At first glance, this is terrible news for the Rangers.

But if you think about it for a bit, you could make the argument that this is a blessing in disguise.

If #NYR can no longer rely on elite goaltending to bail them out, maybe it finally forces them to construct a contender the right way.

Also, Allaire has earned the privilege to take a step back, and enjoy the time away from hockey. He should be in the Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder. Henrik Lundqvist openly advocated for this during the Inductee Q&A in November.

Allaire has had a bigger impact on this org in the last 20 years than anyone else.
