It was clever to pull off this kind of move, but I'd argue that it was unwise simply because Ravens burned at least a few bridges in an extremely small, prestigious group that will have lasting reprocussions.

They gained 2 first round picks while avoiding the risk of losing out.

Hendrickson was still available and they pivoted only because that option became a reality when was left unsign

FA tampering period opened, they lost alot of their players to FA (their plans are falling apart). After a few days they see Hendrickson is still available, mutual interest saves picks.
