@omooretweets I think you are right, but also it was too abrupt. In the new app my chat projects, pinned chats, etc are gone. I had different use cases for each app. Heavy user of both. A more gradual merge to give people time to adjust workflows would have been better.

@petergyang Great take. One thing I tried was asking live voice about my gmail inbox and it said it didn't have access (works when chatting via typing). Once live voice can cross into plugins and even work in more of a work/codex environment, your "co-worker" paradigm will really arrive.

18 months ago it was so painful to configure Google oauth for a website I was building. Not a dev. Constant screenshotting into ChatGPT or Cursor, holding my hand on each step.

The other day, I got Codex all logged in where needed for computer use, let it rip in a few tabs while I stepped away, and magically it was a ready when I got back. Insane.

🦞 Update: my current experience, two weeks in, is roughly the same as Craig's.

A few things are true at the same time:
1. I've spent more time in Terminal and learning command line code than in my entire life combined, incl using Claude code prodigously.
2. Set up is not easy. The initial install is, but getting OpenClaw to load (and operate!) skills is a constant effort in debugging. Have hooked up and debugged installation of more APIs and .env files than ever before.
3. I am not an engineer, but am probably far more technical than 95% of non-engineers. OpenClaw is a steep learning curve.
4. This, I think, creates an opportunity for both engineers and for technical people who are willing to roll up their sleeves and learn how to use this tool, because the knowledge gap is going to be vast for a while. This is far from consumer-ready.
5. Despite the hurdles and learning curve, this is undeniably the future.

Even when it's something that is just several simple cron jobs, having your agent do something for you autonomously while you're sleeping is appreciably faster and more productive than you having to direct every prompt or every action.

The "tipping point" will be when either OpenClaw (or comparable technology) becomes more approachable for the non-technical mass market to be able to set up and instrument their own workflows without the steep multi-week learning curve.

1Connection: Deep, authentic love and relationships with others.
2Craft: Purposeful work, hobbies, or art that engage your unique skills.
3Contribution: Leaving the world a little better than you found it, minimizing suffering and increasing the well-being of others.
4Curiosity: A lifelong desire to grow, learn, and experience the world.
Meaning does not have to be a sweeping, world-changing pursuit. It is just as often found in the "micro-moments"—sharing a meal with a friend, mastering a small skill, or enjoying a quiet morning. Ultimately, the meaning of life is whatever answer you provide to the question of what you choose to value today.
