It’s my birthday. I’m 37 and I have some things I’d like to share, in no particular order.
1. No one thinks about you more than you do. That thing from two years ago that keeps you up at night? No one else remembers. Honor the memory and let it go.
How about instead of prepping to kill we prep to help?
I'll have a $20 in my pocket, or maybe a sandwich in my bag. Carry Narcan. A bottle of cold water when it's hot out.
@ANCJonah Electric tiller to break it up then a stiff rake and a metal rake to sift it? I guess it depends how small the glass is. A construction debris magnet might be good for picking up the steel.
If it's really smaller glass it might be easier to have a pro scrape off and replace
I'm a parent and I don't. My kids tell me the SROs don't help at all, they just watch fights. How about a dean of students to actually work on school culture?
Along with Council members @trayonwhite, @CMBrookePinto and @ChmnMendelson , I co-introduced the "Safe Schools and Students Amendment Act of 2023." If enacted, this legislation halts and repeals the phase-out of our School Resource Officer (SRO) program. https://t.co/KbJc3I495Y
I support D.C. Statehood and home-rule – but I don’t support some of the changes D.C. Council put forward over the Mayor’s objections – such as lowering penalties for carjackings.
If the Senate votes to overturn what D.C. Council did – I’ll sign it.
So why is the proposed budget for my kids' school 5% lower with the same projected enrollment? And @MayorBowser gaslighting us with rosy messages...
@ChmnMendelson can you cut the Mayor's staff by 5% and tell her it's an increase?
@CMLewisGeorgeW4
.@MayorBowser just announced another historic investment in our public schools:
➡️5.05% 📈 to UPSFF, adding $144 million directly to schools
➡️$19.8M to support stability at DCPS and charter schools
➡️Funding to support increases in teacher salaries at DCPS and charter schools.
@alexgdodds@wmata@CMLewisGeorgeW4 Now about housing that can go above it...
I think I heard them say that the Western bus garage renovation would have some mixed use including housing.
@wmataGM@ANCJonah So how about building affordable housing as part of the Northern Bus Garage rebuild? It's right on a major bus route on 14th St NW.
Especially if you make it an all electric / non-diesel facility
@dcwater there's water coming up out of the pavement on 13th St NW at the intersection of Iowa (and Buchanan) on the NE corner right by a storm drain. Video makes the water more clear
@311DCgov glass from bus stop is busted out, 1700 block of 14th St NW, southbound side. Two requests please:
1. Repair to bus stop
2. Clear glass from the bike lane
@allinsea@wmataGM So why not build affordable housing on the multi-acre Northern Bus Garage as part of the upcoming renovation? Right on a major bus route with other major bus routes nearby
