Healthcare strategy and innovation advisor, investor and entrepreneur. Reversing 25+ years of Crohn's taught me diet and lifestyle are best 1st line therapy.
Yes! There's plenty of evidence that not taking time to support a lifestyle option may be malpractice, but the predominant USA payment model won't support it. Some of us are working to change that. Thank you @grantsnz for eloquently stating what will become obvious and required!
@BiggestComeback Looks great, Chris. I'm still on the Mediterranean, so I'll continue defining "Mediterranean Diet" for those confused by all the dubious BS on the subject. They don't understand "sin pan" (no bread) here, but at least it had tomato spread not jam. My wife said it was delicious.
I don't think we're in Ohio anymore... Coffee shop near my hotel. I'm not sure they speak low-carb here. I have not even an urge to try something. Consistency, really has changed my taste preferences.
I can't believe how much I'm enjoying this. My wife was similarly impressed, but my dogs told me that this Border Collie is a bit of an embarrassing kiss-ass with no self-respect. Jealous, obviously.
Meal prep is my "secret" weapon. I cooked steak, chicken, meat loaf, cauliflower and kielbasa simultaneously in less than an hour. Add some over-easy eggs and avocado, and it's a healthy and delicious meal in 5 minutes. Yes, it's the same as yesterday, pretty much, and tomorrow!
@seizuresalad Wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery. You've been through worse, but patience and more World Cup and arts and crafts for now. Also, if those pics are from the actual stairway, you might want to invest in some handrails... :)
@seizuresalad@DBeekman For those of you thinking of moving to or raising a family in Seattle, this article reflects the perspective of local media and your governing elites. If these are your people, enjoy!
@PeterDiamandis I'd say that there's plenty of questionable ethical activities in medicine. This one impacts millions. First line treatment for T2DM should be a low-carb, whole food diet, w/ some intermittent fasting if helpful. https://t.co/8kE7kdKk4H @ElieJarrougeMD
A man taking 250 units of insulin per day was never told to eat fewer carbs.
Fifteen years of uncontrolled diabetes. More than 10 doctors. Not one conversation about removing the foods driving his diabetes.
He had to discover that on his own using AI.
45 days after eliminating carbs, he’s down to 40 units of insulin.
He came to me because he wants to come off insulin and blood pressure medications completely. And we will accomplish that over the next few months using an animal-based, low-carb diet + resistance training + intermittent fasting.
Modern medicine has become obsessed with treating dietary diseases with drugs while largely ignoring nutrition.
That’s why chronic disease continues to explode despite all our technology and innovation.
@zoeharcombe 100%. @rickygervais cleared this up for me a few years ago . . . right about at the peak of woke. I believe that good tickets for his current tour are US$250 each. Imagine how expensive they'd be if he hadn't been canceled! https://t.co/DX7CD7fTXB
@BiggestComeback Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Looks great to me! My lunch pic follows. For me, food prep is one of the critical keys to consistency and success.
You've got it, exactly. The so-called Affordable Care Act (and other state and Federal regs) prohibits denial of coverage or higher premiums due to pre-existing conditions, health status, etc.
Age, sex and smoking (percentage adjustment only) are the only allowed premium adjusters. The healthy/low risk pay for the sick/high risk. No proper financial incentives there.
