🌿 "Trust in transparency – not complicated assessments and impressive-sounding numbers without context – will only become more essential," says @JoshuaWMatthews, founder of cMass. Read more: https://t.co/tKkqj98E40 #Transparency#Greenwashing#AntiGreenwashCharter
The most unequivocally positive vision and comprehensive plan. Sustainability connections out there will recognise the UN Sustainable Development Goals flowing throughout the manifesto 🌐

🔶 The most positive moment of my time in politics so far might just be standing behind our manifesto for this general election. I'm beyond proud to see what a combination of all parts of the @LibDems can achieve

@robblackie has also run a thoroughly positive campaign for Mayor of London 🏙️ based around the real material impacts of the Mayor: fixing the Met Police, putting London back at the forefront of addressing the climate emergency, standing up for European citizens, and much more 🔶
It’s going to be a long year of elections. These local elections are just the start for us in the UK. Many will be trying to make today and our upcoming general election as toxic as possible. It doesn’t have to be. We can do better. And demand better.

It’s election day in London, Cambridge, and beyond 🗳️ please do vote if you can! Personally I’m trying to bring some positivity back to politics ☀️ a politics that’s becoming increasingly negative and divisive. But not so unbearable that it’s not worth doing something about it.

🙈 And similarly, when that hype does take over, we’re far too quick to lose sight of the outcomes or a clear focus on specific use cases for those technologies
(And where those use cases don’t in fact exist)

📸 I still see far too many people in different walks of life discount various technologies because they’re not yet perfect or they’re a bit too hype-y… remember Kodak or Blockbuster? We seem destined to repeat those stories when talking about, for example, AI…
🧑💻 An important quote for anyone analysing or discussing tech: “Believers in the dotcom boom were not wrong about the transformative power of the internet—but they still lost their shirts.”

Announcing our campaign for a positive politics in Lewisham West & East Dulwich 🔶
As well as building the plans we need for the climate and sustainability emergency 🌍 & asking “what DO you want?” not “what DON’T you want?”

1. What is it able to get away with not reporting?
2. What has it outsourced to - or is financing in - other countries or companies?
🗺 Outsourced emissions are carbon accounting pitfalls for a country's manufacturing supply chains, financial sector, agricultural imports++
"The power station emits about 12 million tonnes of carbon a year, but under international rules the UK doesn't have to count these emissions."
🗣 Next time you hear a government - or business - make huge waves over its emissions reductions think…

Bleak but unsurprising 🌍
"Britain is falling behind the EU on almost every area of green regulation"
@LibDems have positive detailed roadmaps to rejoining the single market and addressing the climate and sustainability emergency

Paying key workers fairly does not cause inflation
It has so many causes and effects that include economy-wide pay. And in a fair society, the value of key workers, often paid the least, is non-negotiable

🌍 To fix the #climateemergency we have to use our current systems - while fundamentally transforming them. A critical mass would help align policy, consumers, and industry - by showing #sustainability works for the environment, people, and economics

Even if you don’t share my unequivocal disgust for and opposition to the death penalty, this story truly is shocking and horrific - going way beyond what surely any US citizen or politician can defend as not breaking their constitution in its cruelty
What did #COP28 mean for the @LibDems?
The @GreenLibDems have published some of my thoughts on the UN climate summit - "The COP Emotion" - as well as a starting point for the Liberal Democrats to positively use our platform going into 2024 🔶

We can acquit and compensate the people and families affected by the Post Office Horizon scandal NOW
We have so much time for anger, inquiries, and blame. The priority HAS to be those who have and still suffer the most. So much energy, attention, and coverage seems elsewhere
Delighted and honoured to say I've been selected as the @LibDems parliamentary candidate in Lewisham West & East Dulwich 🔶
And as the London Assembly candidate in Greenwich & Lewisham 🏙️
Formal campaign launch coming soon 🗳️
