California State Assemblyman representing the 7th District in Sacramento County | Assembly Minority Floor Leader | Husband | Father | Host: @pointoforderpod
A must read on how the Legislature is working in a bipartisan way to protect kids from the harms of social media.
I’m proud to be working with @AsmLowenthal & @Patterdude on this critical bill.
It’s proof that policymakers can work together across party lines on real solutions.
Believe it or not, Republicans and Democrats can work together on the most pressing issues facing our communities. I was honored to pen this opinion piece in @sacbee_news with @AsmLowenthal re: harms of social media on kids. https://t.co/B44cPkbAKf
Today, @AsmRepublicans elected me as the Assembly Minority Leader. I am deeply honored by their trust. Together, we will fight to protect families and small businesses from the relentless affordability crisis.
I want to thank Leader Emeritus @HeathFloraCA for his service and commitment to the caucus.
Our leadership team is strong and diverse: @AsmTangipa as Minority Whip @Joshua_Hoover as Minority Floor Leader @NatashaforCA as Minority Caucus Chair @Patterdude as Minority Deputy Leader.
As we prepare for the return of the Legislature next week, here are some interesting bits of history from my recent conversation with the authors of the CA Capitol Cocktail Trivia Book. Thanks to @SacGreenbelt, @AlexCVassar & @ChrisMicheli for joining me on the @pointoforderpod!
CA families deserve better. @CAgovernor refusal to opt into the Education Freedom Tax Credit leaves nearly $5 billion on the table that could help students at no cost to CA taxpayers.
Proud to be a coauthor of this effort with @Joshua_Hoover. It’s time for the Governor to put students first.
I introduced ACR 229 urging Gov. Newsom to opt our state into the Education Freedom Tax Credit.
His inaction leaves nearly $5 billion on the table that could be used to support students at no cost to taxpayers.
Over 30 states have opted in, it’s time for CA to do the same.
5.9 million California students are eligible for additional educational dollars under legislation I co-sponsored, at no cost to the state. Yet Governor Newsom is denying all of them access to these funds. It's never about the kids.
We’ve seen this playbook before. A partisan AG will always try to mislead voters for their own political gain.
It is not unique to Democrats, but it has been abused by the majority party in CA for years.
@SenRogerNiello’s SCA 3 would shift this authority to the nonpartisan LAO.
Assemblyman Carl DeMaio and California Republicans are suing AG Rob Bonta over new wording of state voter ID ballot measure.
Prop 39 now says it prohibits citizens from voting without gov't ID.
"He's a liar, he's corrupt, he's trying to manipulate the election," DeMaio said.
@rish_misra@gbunny@Patterdude@DavidTangipa The idea that we have anything close to “unchecked building” in CA is laughable. It’s quite literally one of the hardest states to build anything in the entire country.
We are formally asking the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to block Newsom's new healthcare tax. Voters expressly prohibited him from imposing such a tax, which will increase premiums by up to $400 for California families.
I’m in @Waymo right now and they need to be everywhere. I feel so safe. I was not paid to say this but slide in my DM’s. I don’t care.
And it took the scenic route. Take all my monies.
Rephrased…
Fact: It is common for ballot titles and summaries to change from the circulating version to a politically charged version voters see. California law expressly allows this gamesmanship for the AG to meet partisan political aims and to confuse voters.
This year, all nine voter-proposed initiatives had partisan changes, including Prop. 39.
CA DOJ takes seriously its authorization to leverage state power to meet partisan political objectives.
Freedom is never guaranteed. Liberty, free markets, and the rule of law must be actively defended and preserved every single generation.
I joined Sheriff John McGinness to discuss the concerning rise of socialism in the United States and why it threatens American values.
No bid. Lack of transparency. Delay tactics.
Just like @CaHSRA.
This is systemic. Where is the oversight?
Taxpayers deserve accountability from their government.

Earlier this year I proposed an audit of California’s failed $450 million Next Generation 911 system. It never received a hearing because it would have highlighted another broken project under Newsom’s watch. The waste and incompetence is staggering.
Californians were forced to pay a fee on their phone bill for years to fund a new 911 system. The Newsom Administration spent $450 million before deciding the design wouldn't work and scrapping it.
Now, we've learned the state is spending another $194 million on a "bridge" contract to maintain service while they try to figure out a new design. This kind of waste is why California taxpayers pay the most yet get the least in return.
