Marriage 101!!!
Please, never go into marriage with the mindset that there are certain things you can never do simply because you are now married.
I can never pay the rent when I have a husband…
I can never wash the toilet when my wife is not sick..
I can never tell my spouse how much I earn…
I can never pay my children’s school fees…I can never change my baby’s diaper…
I can never submit to my husband…
You must let go of this kind of rigid thinking if you genuinely desire a marriage that will healthily stand the test of time.
Again, marriage is not a competition to see who does what or who is supposed to do what!!!
There will be seasons when one person will have to carry more of the financial responsibility…
There will be times when the wife earns more…
There will be times when the husband needs help…
There will be days when you may have to cook, clean, pay bills, care for the children, make sacrifices or do things you once believed were “not your responsibility”…
Life will at some point, defintely happen!!!
Your spouse may lose a job…
Your business may fail…
Pregnancy may change things…
Children may arrive...
Unexpected bills will appear…
One person may become overwhelmed while the other has more strength to give…
In those moments, you will need consideration much more than you would need pride.
A healthy marriage is not built on THIS IS NOT MY ROLE, it is built on HOW CAN WE GET THROUGH THIS TOGETHER!!!
Let me spell it out again:
There is nothing wrong with a husband doing chores in his home…
There is nothing abominable about a wife contributing financially…
There is nothing wrong with either parent changing diapers, paying school fees, cooking, cleaning or carrying responsibilities when necessary…
The person who says, “I will never do this” will one day find themselves in a season where doing that very thing becomes necessary.
So, enter marriage with principles, yes!!! But do not build your home around rigid rules that leave no room for life.
Sometimes, loving your a spouse they didn’t point a gun to your head to marry means doing what is necessary, not just what you believe is your role.
Because at the end of the day, marriage is not about protecting your pride. Instead, it is about building a life together with the person you swore to love and cherish!!!
Do not say you were not informed!!!
Nigerian men are always fighting for their rights to pay bills, especially for women who wouldn’t do the same for them.
Your savior complex and provider fetish are the reasons you come online to cry wolf when she eventually breaks up with you and you finally realize that you have been subscribing to be loved.
Few days ago, one babe was ranting on this app because a guy billed her for AirPods. She even changed his name to “imbecile.”
Another lady tweeted that once a man asks her for money, she’ll start seeing him as a woman. She meant that in a derogatory way.
Nigerian women do not hide their disgust and irritation for men who ask them for things. They hate it so much.
I have said it before: when it comes to dating, men (read: Nigerian men) are the most foolish of God’s creatures. The women are logical like mad. It is the men who are emotional, but they’ll never admit this.
Before a woman gifts you, she conditions you. For example:
“I can do it for my man IF I love him.”
“I’ll buy him things IF I like him.”
“IF he treats me like a princess, I’ll reciprocate.”
“IF he provides for me…”
“IF” — there’s always a condition.
Even you that is bragging that your babe bought you a PS5 or a pair of loafers, tell yourself the truth: how many things did you do for her before she considered you worthy of those gifts? Exactly.
Nigerian women mostly gift from the mindset of investment. As she dey do those things for you, few days or weeks later, e get one serious billing wey dey follow am and you go squeeze face chest am.
In your defense, “she just buy me console sha.” So why person wey buy you console two weeks ago dey give you ₦1m billing all of a sudden?
It was all part of the plan.
The crazy thing about this whole thing is that the babes no even rate una like that o.
I have seen women on social media say that when their men changed their phones, they quickly added money and swapped them so that, in case they break up, he wouldn’t have the right or even think of taking it back.
It is only Nigerian men who pay their girlfriends’ school fees. Especially international school fees.
Only Nigerian men will go an entire year without doing anything nice for themselves but will make sure their babes are well to do.
I wanted to ask, “Do you think the babe you are fighting for your right to change her phone will do the same for you?”
I didn’t know when that cracked me up because do you even think a babe who knows you cannot afford to change your phone by yourself will date you in the first place?
You are in your mid-20s, dating a babe in her early 20s. You don’t work a salary job, but somehow, you are expected to change phones of over ₦400k+ because you are a boyfriend.
Later, you’ll come crying, “After all I did for her.”
No worry. Keep fighting for your life to chest unnecessary bills. Na you guide pass.
But just know say all the money wey you dey lavish on babe wey no really send you like that na the school fees for the lesson wey she go later teach you.
Jaiye lo.
@whocyril@zizimunir@_Tobolos_ Barcelona never shit like Arsenal, Barcelona won league 2 years before Xavi and they are qualifying for champions league moreover you can’t compare Laliga to premier league is just only 3 clubs that spend money on transfers in that league not like premier
