Wonder how $fash unlocks value from the fashion industry for #Web3 with @bnv_me? Hit up @richardjhobbs on https://t.co/0Ksnubgh26!
The standard answer is ownership and decentralization. The fact is people don't care about that as much as we want that to be.
What we need are use cases that people who don't care about crypto ideology find interesting and are willing to pay for. Question is: what are they?
CEX has played an important role to token launches - but what has been needs not always be.
@decryptmedia's report on CEX losing ground to DEX rings true, but my spicy take is that CEX will capture DEX market with its distribution channels.

But the real question is: would Web3 develop actual PMF beyond trading tokens?
We keep saying "getting the next million users on-chain", but what's there to do on-chain that people can't do off-chain?
@_jhunsaker@_weidai Yea I wish we have better data on that. The venmo notes could also give much more context of payment than blockchain txns, so privacy concern is higher.
Thinking g just now if people care more about privacy from govt/institutions or from friends & family, but no idea yet

p.s. βnot actual dataβ above means they inferred from data set as non-public txns arenβt accessible, so 1) canβt capture those who set private from get-go 2) non-public txns are estimated
@_jhunsaker@_weidai@_jhunsaker you might be interested in this Venmo study:
- βnon-publicβ user increased from 25% in 2014 to 38% in 2018 (caveat itβs not actual data), but total no. of public users went up
- users use more cryptic notes to protect privacy, even among public users
