Laos Sent 106 Thai Scammers Back Across the New Bueng Kan Bridge. The Front Was a Government Lottery Company.

Lao authorities handed over 106 Thai nationals at the Bueng Kan border today, from a May 19 raid in Paksan district that hit five buildings. Among them, the TF-LVE Lao Government Lottery Company, a firm Lao police say was legally registered but using its half-built lottery business as a front for an online gambling operation serving Thailand, Vietnam, China, and Malaysia. Slots, baccarat, football betting, lottery games.

The seizure numbers are unusual. 164 desktops, 149 laptops, 21 additional computers, 119 phones, 3 printers. That's more than three machines per worker. 51 of the 106 are women. Most said they answered Facebook ads for admin, customer-chat, and video editing jobs paying 35,000 baht a month. They entered Laos as tourists.

Bueng Kan immigration is now running all 106 through National Referral Mechanism screening to separate trafficking victims from willing employees. Nine have prior arrests. One has more than 70 outstanding mule-account warrants. Eleven others are flagged for further mule-account questioning.

Thai Navy fire was reported in Koh Kong province in the early hours of December 13, prompting residents to flee their homes overnight.
