My thoughts on last night’s debate:
John James — wow.
I’ll admit it: I thought you were going to get boat-raced. You’ve lost two statewide races before, and coming into this one I wasn’t convinced you were the guy. I still believe there are serious questions about what happened in one of those Senate races.
But last night? Very, very well done.
I wish James would’ve hit Jocelyn Benson harder on a few issues, but I also thought the cards were stacked against him at times.
Benson came into this race, in my opinion, as the clear favorite. But then came the data-center discussion.
That was her “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia” moment.
Her facial expressions completely changed. The lip, the grimacing, the body language — she looked rattled. And the harder she went after James, the less effective I thought she became.
And I’m saying that while fully admitting I’m not exactly an impartial observer.
Another thing that bothered me: there were a couple of times where Benson basically took control of the debate and started directing questions straight at James. Rick Albin needed to shut that down and keep control of the format.
This is still Benson’s race to lose. Democrats have won the last two Michigan governor elections, and before last night I honestly didn’t think John James was a particularly strong candidate for governor.
I changed my mind a little last night.
Whether he can overcome the Democratic advantage in places like Wayne County and all of the election-integrity concerns Republicans have there remains to be seen.
But strictly grading the debate?
John James won the night. And I don’t think it was particularly close.
You surprised me, John James.
Very well done.
@MichiganDems@JocelynBenson You blindly ride on the trails of democrats without having a morsel of actual intelligence or critical thinking. Pathetic journalism.
American an European friends,
I’m so ashamed, but you need to see what France has become.
Don’t make the same mistakes we did.
The only peaceful solution is to send them back to their countries of origin they love so much.
We cannot coexist. It will be them, or us.
@JohnKeatingTV We bought a place at Crystal Mountain Resort and did a day trip up to Glen Arbor then went up to Fishtown. It was a spectacular day and will be a wonderful week up North 🍁

@BarstoolUofM Elite DLine yet can’t score enough points on offense to buffer the fvcking mess at the end. Michigan can’t win a full game on both sides.
