We don’t control the outcome (good day/bad day), however we do control learning. Don’t cheat yourself and learn from everything that comes your way. Don’t let the emotions of good/bad day prevent you from growing
Don’t settle in life. People want to tell you what you can and can’t do because of what they couldn’t do. Keep pushing yourself, dream big and don’t put limits on the possibilities.
Leiter is "running on fumes." OK. That may be a good reason why I cut him slack tonight. He's been great, has been burned up, and didn't have his slider.
But if he's running fumes, why did he get the 9th in the first place? Palencia, Greene both fresh (at least). Or Assad?
"When building a championship, it doesn't just come automatically.
It doesn't come because you want to.
It comes in stages. You have to earn your way.
On your own practice field - this is where it happens.
This is the only place that can make you who you're going to be."

Make everything your fault.
Find the beast within you.
Throw yourself into pain.
Cut out all the excuses.
Go all in on yourself.
Train like a warrior.
Work like a robot.
Eat like a king.
Reject vices.
Transform.
Upgrade.
Create.
Thrive.
Win.
College Coaches trusting a D1 bounce back who didn’t play a minute last year over a high school kid who is game ready and hungry doesn’t always make sense to me.
Successful high school athletics change a community. Go to a state tournament and watch the community close down their town to come support. It’s more than just the student-athletes too. The band, cheerleaders, alum, parents, grandparents are all greatly impacted. It is SPECIAL!
Coaches find out who really likes the game when they open the gym & see who comes in. They find out who really loves the game when they see what players do with their time in the gym. Anyone can go & be in the gym, but the very best will use their time for purposeful development!
I’ve been saying this for years. More time in the classroom doesn’t lead to success it’s leads to burn out by noon. Children need to time to burn off energy and come back refocused, but we continually just focus on testing. Teaching to learn how to test doesn’t equal success.
We spend 50% more hours in school than Finland. They get 15 mins of recess every hour. They have NO standardized tests until the PISA in HS & they outperform us every time. When we can’t give students more recess, play, or Arts, but make them sit longer hours, we have it wrong!
“Winning isn’t the point.
Wanting to win is the point.
Not giving up is the point. Never letting up is the point.
Never being satisfied with what you’ve done is the point.
The game is never over.
The secret of the game is in doing your best.
To persist & endure.”-Pat Summitt
SDSU had a championship defense.
SDSU has championship talent.
SDSU has an archaic offensive system that didn’t allow them to be competitive when it mattered most.
