these hearings are often pretty straightforward: present your messages, screenshots, recordings, or other evidence and explain your case to a judge. It's much closer to representing yourself at a traffic-ticket hearing than representing yourself in a serious criminal case.
I looked into it bc it intrigued me... Self-representation in restraining-order hearings is actually very common. Civil cases don't come with court-appointed lawyers, and many people aren't going to spend thousands on an attorney for a relatively limited hearing.
