@iowahawkblog 30+ years ago, UT fans were chanting "We're not rivals" during Tech games. Tech has always been desperate to be relevant and to be someone's rival.
@CharlesFLehman I'm sure there were some physicists on the Manhattan Project who looked around and were like, "Well, Johnny is smarter than the rest of us but in general intelligence doesn't vary that much."
@sfmcguire79 All admissions officers in the UC system should be fired. They thought they found a hack for race based admissions by discriminating based on highschool. Now elite engineering programs have kids who can't perform middle school math.
@sfmcguire79@wesyang The way KBJ openly mocks her fellow Justices for "textualism", as opposed to just doing whatever she wants, is a huge warning about where we're going.
@tracewoodgrains "People learn at different rates" is overly polite and cautious. Most people hit a limit where they just don't have the intelligence to learn something that other humans can learn. The differences in people's limits is not minor.
@jbarro I don't understand it. Every one of these liberal writers is a college grad. They can't possibly have thought every person in every class they ever took was equally intelligent.
@neoavatara@elonmusk I'll tell you a secret. I was smart enough to make a lot of money in finance but I would have been pretty marginal in a STEM field.
@slmandel Last year, Texas Tech finished in the AP top 10, which I believe is the first time that has ever happened since the poll's inception in the 1930's.
With all due respect to a billionaire's ability to buy a good team, Texas Tech is a minor brand.
