Mike Tomlin said, "Leadership is lonely. I don't run from it, I run to it. It was mine and mine alone."
Leadership is a responsibility.
• It means doing more.
• It means being an example.
• It means building trust and relationships.
Great leaders know that it isn't about being in charge, it's about caring, connecting, and influence.
How can you do that as a leader?
Focus on People - Leadership is fundamentally about people; understanding them, connecting with them, and getting the best out of them. Effective leaders focus on building strong relationships, fostering teamwork, and developing the talents and potential of their team members. They prioritize the team's development and well-being.
Know Your Purpose - It means having a clear vision and a strong sense of why you are leading. It guides decision-making and gives your team a direction to follow. A leader with a strong purpose can inspire and align their team towards common goals and a shared mission.
Have a Passion for What You Do - It means enthusiasm and a deep commitment to your work and goals. A passionate leader is driven, motivated, and able to inspire and energize their team. This energy is contagious, encouraging, and a model for others to strive for daily excellence.
Be Persistent - It is a commitment to the vision. Leaders who exhibit persistence stay focused on their goals despite obstacles and setbacks. It means determination and resilience in the face of challenges. This trait is crucial in motivating a team to keep striving forward, even when times are tough.
Look to Perform - It means focusing on setting high standards for yourself and others. Use goals and metrics to measure progress, growth, and performance. Hold yourself accountability when you don't meet the standard. Great leaders are process-focused and constantly seeking ways to improve outcomes and efficiency through the systems they create.
Be Present and Have a Presence - It means being approachable, engaging, and confident while also being able to command respect. Great leaders have confidence in their vision, message, and practice the power of being present. A leader with a strong presence can effectively communicate, influence others, and lead by example, creating a positive impact.
“We spend a lot of time focusing on the parents. Are they going to be fans of their son or parents? Are they going to hold them accountable? Have an expectation that when something goes wrong, that it’s not the coach’s fault. Their son has to work harder, do more, earn his role,” Dan Hurley
The role of a parent makes a difference in building a TEAM culture.

“The brain simply believes what you tell it most. And what you tell it about YOU, it will create. It has no choice.” Love that quote from Shad Helmstetter in his great book ‘What To Say When You Talk To Your Self’.
The inner dialogue that’s going on all the time in our head is THE most important thing we have going on. How we talk to ourselves is a huge part of creating a powerful self-image, which is important because we will never out perform a poor self-image.
When we take control of our self-talk and feed our mind powerful thoughts, we direct our focus on to what we WANT to happen. When we let our self-talk happen by chance, many times our focus gets directed to what we DON’T WANT to happen.
We can all take notes from @AaronDonald97 as he clearly had this mastered. Congrats on an amazing career man 👊
Can we please stop killing each other or tearing one another down please. Can we take that same passion & desire to kill & destroy folks & use it to Build, Support & Promote each other. Can we ? What's stopping us besides Hate, Envy, Jealousy & Ignorance. #CoachPrime
