RT @theBAL: HISTORY FOR RWANDA! ๐ท๐ผ๐๐ฅ
IN THEIR VERY FIRST BAL SEASON, RSSB TIGERS ARE YOUR 2026 BASKETBALL AFRICA LEAGUE CHAMPIONS! ๐คฏ๐ฏ httpsโฆ
The BAL is continuing to explore franchise options. According to #NBA#Africa CEO @cakamanzi , early studies have shown positive results. One of the models currently being considered is a semi-closed league format, with 10 permanent teams and two others qualifying each year.
โSports, necessarily unifies people. In Rwandaโs case, we have seen a lot of benefits. We can see how it has increased numbers in tourism, people who want to come to Rwanda, people come for conferences, they come for events like this. It comes to choices you make, it comes to mindset as well.
When countries come together, when leagues come together, when people come together, the benefits are multiplied by a much bigger factor. You donโt want to have such a good thing isolated in one region or one country. The more people that work together, that come together, it forms a much bigger market that makes sense of everything you are doing.โ President Kagame speaking on the transformative power of sports investment during @theBAL Investors Summit

@JosephRyarasa@africaceoforum Fair point on equity vs debt. But active PE is arguably better as you fix management and therefore productivity not just rates. Also RSSB's $30M is tiny vs total AUM. We need BOTH: PE for growth + loan guarantees for banks. Circle breaks when 'safe' stops meaning only govt bonds.
@JosephRyarasa@africaceoforum Shift just 5-10% of pension assets into SME credit guarantees via local banks and single-digit lending becomes a reality. RSSB already does this but small scale. So the model exists but meaningful percentage allocation has to be mandated. 2/2
@JosephRyarasa@africaceoforum We keep re-diagnosing the problem instead of treating it. The gap isnโt ideas, itโs the preference for โsafeโ govt bonds while SMEs are considered risky. The irony? those โsafeโ bonds fund recurrent budgets and rarely job creation. 1/2

Would an African president shut up a noisy audience in France the way Macron did in Nairobi? Some Africans are outraged about the French president's paternalistic tone.
But some praise him for showing leadership. Was it rude, or was it the right thing to do?
Itโs wild stepping back and seeing how we got here on this platform. Itโs hard to find real and meaningful discussions or just lighthearted chatter anymore. Kinda sad honestly.
@just_usmucyo@SamJDean Interesting, but Iโd also ask; is the award for the best performing team or performing player? If itโs for individual performance, then Brunoโs performance, including goals, assists, and chances created are far superior than any player youโve mentioned.
