High-level Democrats raged about conditions at the privately run federal Delaney Hall in Newark, but stayed silent on our own state prisons.
So I toured the 190-year-old max-security NJ State Prison in Trenton with a bipartisan group. What we saw:
❌ Cells failing basic standards
❌ No air conditioning
❌ ~300 officer shortage
❌ K2 drugs slipping through

State facilities must meet the same standards we demand federally. Our corrections officers do incredibly tough work, they deserve safe, modern facilities.
