@justinjchapman First up, we have Tessa-May Zirnsak & @Judith_Drake2 who will be presenting βResearch with β not for β consumers: Reflections on codesigning a qualitative study on physical health for people with mental illnessβ #EquallyWellAu23
The amazing Debbie Hamilton speaking about s*e*x @EquallyWell_AU Symposium. Those of us diagnosed w major mental illness do not cease to be human. We still experience need for love, companionship, solitude & intimacy. We need positive & respectful approach to sexuality & r'ships.
@mbismark Your situation is untenable & unfair.
This is often how we feel trying to seek MH support. Extreme distress & trauma responses are met w indifference or with simplistic CBT strategies/meds to shut us down without addressing underlying issues.
Psych system heal thyself? Take care.
Richard Blackshaw & Christine Judd talking about recovery-led, flexible, responsive approaches to clients living with a mental health condition within a disability service. #CMHA2023@CMHAustralia#NDIS & Mental Health Conference.
Great key note this morning from the amazing Debbie Hamilton at #CMHA2023#NDIS & MH conference on her research: Barriers to Choice & Control in the NDIS.
As a disability organisation, the NDIS should not be creating structural barriers it was designed to mitigate. @CMHAustralia
Jean Kittson welcoming everyone to the 4th #CMHA2023#NDIS & Mental Health Conference, to learn, share, discuss, debate, improve & celebrate. @CMHAustralia
Congratulations Elaine Ong AM & @Vets_Compassion on your #AustraliaDayHonour

@balikpappan I used to take my Mum slices of carrot cake (w walnuts) or banana bread as they have calories & some nutrients but weren't as overwhelming as a whole meal. Ginger (in various forms) can sometimes help a bit. Soups, smoothies or if necessary meal replacement drinks. Good luck!π€π
@AmbulanceVic Great Peer Support teams comprise more than any one individual (human or canine). But @AmbulanceVic's 1st Peer Dog was incredibly special. My thoughts are w Ken, who has lost not just a colleague but a family member. RIP Bruce & thank u for your loyal service.πΎπππ @agwalker01
@SimonKatterl @szczpanks Great work @SimonKatterl π
Am sick of MH orgs doing engagement & consultation but calling it "co-prod/design" as if changing name changes process. π
Maybe true coproduction isn't always feasible but PLEASE call it what it is. Nothing will change if all we change is terminology.
@EtihadHelp@jpfpreston Thanks for the link for status on delayed flight EY461 (MEL-AUH) Ann @EtihadHelp It's definitely more up to date than Google. But given it still says Estimated Departure of 2.45am (for a 9.25pm scheduled flight), & it's now after 3.50am, you may need to update it. βοΈππ₯±π₯΄
Disappointed in @Chronopost
Sent parcel to family in π«π·
Delivery driver demanded β¬55 tax be paid (only inexpensive, personal gifts for 5 people) but instead of taking to post office so my sister could collect he just marked Return To Sender. Now nephew won't get birthday π. π₯
Paula Hakesley from @MonashHealth at #TheMHSForum2022
Leadership matters, clinicians shldnβt feel threatened by peer work, meeting needs of diverse community is vital & importance of strong advocacy for #NDIS applications (tho I would prefer lawyers weren't needed to get access!)
Bruce Bonyhady speaking at #TheMHSForum2022 on #NDIS on this National Day of Action to #DefendOurNDIS@EveryAustralian
Rebuilding trust, transparency, adequate resourcing, living up to promise of insurance scheme (not short term cost-cutting) & support for those not eligible.
@agwalker01@AmbulanceVic Very best wishes for a speedy recovery. And thank you for sharing your experiences to raise awareness of this important topic - bowel cancer screening is so important. Take care of yourself & canβt wait to see you back on deck at @AmbulanceVic as soon as you are well enough.
@codebluenursey I hope tomorrow is a better day for you. From someone else who sometimes feels painfully alone, yet somehow finds the strength, somewhere deep inside, to keep going.

@SParnis@JamesBr97409271 Pls never underestimate the power of a health professional w empathy, compassion & great sense of humour! Whilst skill & competence r obvious (tho unfortunately not always given) prerequisites, all the knowledge in world is wasted if u can't relate properly to ppl u r caring for.
