1) Europe should do everything to prevent a US troop withdrawal from the Baltic states.

2) If, however, this kind of a deal took place, the UK & French & the Nordic presence in the countries should be at least tripled.

Eurooppa on nolo.

1) Venäjä aloitti sotimisen heti toivuttuaan Neuvostoliiton hajoamisesta. Ukrainaan hyökättiiin jo 2014, mutta vasta 2022 helmikuussa Venäjän todelliseen luonteeseen herättiin.

Silti Ukrainan auttaminen tai oman maan maanpuolustuksen kehittäminen jäi monilta EU- mailta vajanaisiksi.

2) Asia ei edes kuulu USAlle, mutta se on lahjoittanut aseita Ukrainalle ja asettanut talouspakotteita Venäjää vastaan. USA on tehnyt jo määräänsä enemmän.

3) USA on Obamasta Bideniin ja Trumpiin kertonut, varoittanut ja muistuttanut, että USA säästää voimaansa Kiinan varalta. Että Euroopan pitäisi ottaa vastuu itsestään ja Ukrainasta niin taloudellisesti kuin sotilaallisesti.

4) Euroopassa ollaan nyt "järkyttyneitä", kun "Trump pelaa Putinin pussiin".

Kukakohan se on pelannut Putinin pussiin? Tämä on kyllä ihan linjassa Euroopan viimeisen parin vuosikymmenen politiikan kanssa - eurokriisinkin kerrotaan olevan amerikkalaisen finanssikriisin, eikä suinkaan EUn yhteisvaluutan perustamisen, toteutuksen, valvonnan ja kriisinhoidon typeryyden.

5) Eurooppa näyttäytyy jatkuvasti maailmalle heikkona kumppanina. Haluttomana ja kyvyttömänä rakentavaan toimintaan.

Onko se ihme, että tällainen spedeilykerho ei herätä kunnioitusta?

Onko se yllätys, että Euroopan puheita pidetään tyhjinä?

Että meidän näkökulmat ja huolet eivät kiinnosta?

Että opportunistit turvapaikanhakijoista asuntoobligaatioiden kauppiaisiin, Moskovasta Pekingiin, käyttävät heikkouttamme hyväksi?

6) Nyt huudetaan jälleen kerran liittovaltion syventämistä avuksi. Muuttaisiko tämä muka Italian, Espanjan ja Ranskan taloudet kovaan kuntoon ja toisi kykyä ja halua toimia? Miksei näin ole jo käynyt?

We Finns know Russia. Finland, a neighbouring country to Russia, consistently remained an independent democracy through the Second World War and the Cold War.

Take it from us: Putin has no intention to stop his expansionist pursuit. He will enter talks, enjoy the limelight, and take whatever he possibly can without making any genuine concessions.

Russia must be kept at bay and within its own borders with credible economic and military pressure. That is what ’peace through strength’ is all about.

Ukraine and Europe deserve to live in peace. There is no panacea. An isolated quick fix leads to more trouble down the line - also to the US.

So far Russia has shown no interest in peace. Ahead of any talks, Russia could signal goodwill by, for instance, returning forcibly relocated Ukrainian children back to their parents. 

Lasting peace needs a comprehensive plan for the years to come. A negotiated settlement should encompass a process, ensuring Ukraine’s and Europe’s security, including containment of the multi-domain threat Russia is posing.

This process could also manage a gradual and conditional easing of sanctions pressure. It can’t be a one-off deal.

This is the time for Europe. Europe is stepping up: committing even more to security and further increasing defence spending. And no matter what, Europe will be at the tables deciding about Europe. It’s our people, our values, our future.

But defending the free world takes the US, too. This space is closely being watched also in the Indo-Pacific. A secure and stable Europe is in America's interest and going forward, the US will need strong allies.

The Finnish people are currently fairly “colour blind”. Meaning that the average person doesn’t really care what you look like. They’re more concerned about your actions. If you’re chill, and act within their cultural norms, no one cares.

But this is my warning ‼️

If Finland begins pushing identity politics; calling people racist for being uncomfortable with certain cultural practices - that are alien to them. Or amplifying negativity against Finnish culture as a whole... This country (over time) will become increasingly race conscious.
As a South African who calls Finland home, trust me, you do NOT want to go down that road. Let’s not create problems that are not here. Let’s keep pushing the idea that humans are valued only by the content of their heart, not the colour of their skin.
I will oppose this destructive narrative trying to be built here.
