@flowidealism I love our public library. Problem? When I go there to work, it's depressing to watch grown men sitting around in the afternoon watching movies, young men playing video games, and the homeless often take over the only area food and drink are allowed.

@ChrisMartzWX What annoys me is the inconsistent arguments. When there is an amazingly cold/snowy winter they say "That doesn't mean anything. Don't you know the difference between weather and climate?" BUT, when there's a really hot summer, then the weather is absolutely on their side.

@rpondiscio Thank you for putting it in words! I wasn't sure why I was resistant to the idea of merit pay. I am about to enter the classroom and I know I will struggle for a while because IT'S A LOT! That doesn't mean I'm I bad teacher and don't deserve a livable wage. I know I'll get there.

@Lordoftheringsu They had to put Aragorn turning down the ring somewhere since they skipped book placement. The weight of the book moment is easy to miss because it happens before the reader has really grasped the power of the ring. It's in Bree: "If I was after the Ring, I could have it - NOW!"

@ChrisMartzWX Same thing with metric length. They have decimeters but won't use them. A human's height is given in cm or just m, resulting in dificult to envision heights like 1.75 m or 175 cm. Really? No better unit to use? I love feet because it's so good for daily household use.

@adamboxer1 In my classes, inquiry-based/PBL learning is promoted. Except for: students with needs, then it's "explicit instruction is best" Then when they talk about differentiation and inclusion they point out that other students benefit too. Sooo, explicit instruction for all then?

@BiblicalBeauty I'd start her on some gentler grown-up books like Janette Oke's. I remember really liking the "Song of Acadia" series when I was pretty young, and her "Acts of Faith" series, based on the book of Acts, is good.
