@colb924 I voted for student voice and choice because it lets the students compose their own thoughts and ideas about the topic. They discover a topic in their project based learning and build their own unique set of beliefs about it. #xuedchat
@colb924 @LaurenAngelone I have experienced the same flipped classroom style of learning in math classes before, but it was also used in my history class. We would learn the information outside of class and then ask questions when we were in person. #xuedchat
@annissa_conway I vote for individual Chromebooks so each student can work at their own pace and lessons can be better adapted to each student's needs. #xuedchat
@LaurenAngelone The skill of thinking critically is a crucial skill needed for students to master. In our lesson plan, we plan for students to "learn how to apply knowledge to the real world, and use it to solve problems, answer complex questions, and create high-quality products". #xuedchat
@LaurenAngelone In the classroom, I have observed blended learning where students watched a video at home and came to the classroom the next day to discuss what they learned. (2/2) #xuedchat
@LaurenAngelone Blended learning is a modality of instruction and personalized learning differentiates and scaffolds instruction. Blended learning can be one of the ways of personalized learning. Personalized instruction is important since not every student learns the same. (1/2) #xuedchat
@carlyxavier28 @LaurenAngelone Videoconferencing would be a really interesting tool to use as it would enable engaging conversations around the world. I would be interested in using this in a future classroom too! #xuedchat
@colb924 @LaurenAngelone I agree, Caroline! These literature circles could be very beneficial to students to give them a broader perspective about books and the world! #xuedchat
@LaurenAngelone In my future classroom I would like to participate in the Global Read Aloud Project. It's a great way to connect students all over the world through books (including 60 countries!) and spark an engaging conversation. #xuedchat
@colb924 @LaurenAngelone I did not know this either! I think this is good to know as we study to become teachers and need to follow the copy right laws. It's important to always give credit where credit is due! #xuedchat
@colb924 @LaurenAngelone I agree that this rule is important. It is easy to take the first thing found on the internet, but it is important to check the copy right laws! #xuedchat
@carlyxavier28 @LaurenAngelone I agree that a lot of the time we take what is on the internet as always true, but we need to double check and be careful before we accept it. #xuedchat
@LaurenAngelone I think it is most important for students to know rule number 1: just because you found it online, doesn't mean it's free to use. This is important to remember because it is easy to just take something you found on the internet without looking at the copy right. #xuedchat
@LaurenAngelone I learned that a work that is copyrighted can expire and become public domain. Copy right lasts the author's whole life and the 70 years that follow their passing. #xuedchat
@LaurenAngelone I agree that online schools give children more opportunities to develop in ways that they wouldn't have in "normal" times. Children have more time to focus on topics they enjoy and according to the article it has made kids less stressed and more happy. #xuedchat
@Hallor1Ann I agree! The use of technology in the classroom has been increasing steadily over the past years and I think it will keep being a useful tool. #xuedchat
@colb924 @LaurenAngelone I like how you acknowledged that many districts assumed students would be able to continue their education online. They need to find and reach the needs of each student and family. #xuedchat
@LaurenAngelone Not all students have the capacity to continue their education at home during the pandemic (Harvard EdCast). Whether a special education student or a student that doesn't have access to technology, it can set them behind in their learning due to the digital divide. #xuedchat
@LaurenAngelone The 1st level digital divide is βa host of
complex factors that shape technology use in ways that serve to exacerbate existing education
inequalitiesβ(Tyson). The 2nd level digital divide impacts society in many ways and has "the potential for social exclusion"(Tyson).#xuedchat
