Likes sport, having fun with my 2 teenagers and 3 dachshunds. Worked in social care, but after being diagnosed with MND am now in receipt of social care.
@444blackcat@ProfLAppleby Expect services to work collaboratively, then create competition and tenders, (or beauty contests), change the name over the door, employ the same staff, and expect services to improve. Madness.
@444blackcat@ProfLAppleby Absolutely, had a similar role, trying to coordinate systems and providers and develop protocols so that the person was treated, not the diagnosis or the sm.
@Footinit Never describe caring and working with people as menial. It is life changing and makes an incredible difference. Kiwi fruit is my go to preventative trick😉🤣
@Footinit After a lifetime in social care, I'm just pleased now the tables have turned, that I always tried to make sure the services I lead were as good as they possibly could be!
@Footinit Thank you, but💩 happens! I live alone, but I've recently started having carers visit X3 daily and overnight, so it's ok. It's constantly having to adjust and accept changes that is...challenging!
@sophiearumble Hope it works out for you all, sometimes the first visit can be a culture shock, it takes time for them to readjust, so be gentle with each others hopes and expectations.
@ProfLAppleby There is a cynicsm that public services waste money, perpetuated by politicians who commit to saving £m's and reducing taxes. We can all give examples of 'waste', but until we commit to funding services properly, this will continue. Need to move away from short term popularity.
@RightToLifeUK It's not about being pain free, it's about quality of life, and not just existing. The medicalisation of our lives has resulted in this.
@scriptwren In January 25 I was diagnosed with MND, aged 56. I've travelled more in the past 12 months than in the previous 12 years. Don't put it off. You never quite know what's round the corner.
@CharlesTannock Many, but not all. May, not will. Your use of language undermines and diminishes the seriousness of the subject. Where is patient choice, and professional humility in your statement ?
@Hplays_piano Thank you, I'm ok. It's given me clarity and focus, I spend time with who I want to, and don't waste time worrying about things I have no influence over, which I spent far too long doing. It's been remarkably liberating!
@AgnesAyton@Docstockk And you know best? Do no harm? I feel for some of our patients who do want to die, live a miserable existence, and have no way out. And no understanding of what their reality is.
