RIP double Oscar winning special visual effects supervisor, Brian Johnson. He won for Alien & Empire Strikes Back. Of the generation that did all special effects, he alternated between supervising physical effects, miniatures then motion control work and later directed CGI.

George Lucas new museum cost $1.5B.

Chicago and SF both turned it down.

So, it’ll open at Exposition Park in LA in September 2026.

It is 300,000 square feet and has 11 galleries holding art (Norman Rockwell, Frida Kahlo), valuable comics (Marvel, DC, Peanuts), original film props (Star Wars) and his 17,000 pair collection of Air Monarchs (to be confirmed).

Marcia Lucas, who won an Oscar for editing “Star Wars,” directed by her former husband George Lucas, has died from cancer. She was 80.

“Marcia will be remembered as a brilliant storyteller, a trailblazer for women in film, a loving mother and grandmother, a generous host, and a loyal friend whose humor and sparkle filled every room she entered. Her influence on film is indelible, but those who knew her best will remember the way she made life feel more vivid, more beautiful, more fun, and more full of love,” the family statement said.

It's interesting seeing the industry double down on proving just how badly end of life plans are needed for games. This is exactly the sort of thing #StopKillingGames wants regulators / MEPs to see. Customers increasingly have no protections when it comes to video games.
