After a few long days, finally created a boot floppy for the lab’s Kaypro IV! I’m think floppy drives are basically a mechanical “magnetized needle in a steady hand” - they seem to be endlessly configurable! Ty @tastytronic and Chandler Swift for the help!

@tastytronic In the end all it took was changing the 5.25” drive to 1.2M from 360K in the BIOS. Adjust the ImgDisk settings a bit for the faster speed, and voila!

Our #pdp12 only has 8K of core but supports up to 24K in an external cabinet (32K total). My student @JulianNowaczek just got a UROP grant to investigate and build a compatible unit using modern components this Fall. Will we finally get to play ADVENT? Stay tuned! Congrats!

Boards for the PDP-12 backplane probe arrived from @oshpark today! A much easier way to test the connection between the wire wrap and card edge connectors, and get test points on unpopulated flip chip slots (like the MC12 memory expansion connectors 😁)! #pdpcamp #retrocomputing

@tastytronic @DawsonRosell @bitsavers I took these last night: the switches on the CCU, the back plate, and the junction box. The model and serial numbers are different from the images @DawsonRosell took because we swapped the bracket with the nameplate on it, not sure which is original
