@asymmetricinfo Megan, yep. So speaking from the financial planning biz, moving to Medicare Plan C is not a reversible decision currently.
This is not investment or planning advice.
@DaveShapi One other thought, David.
Historically, capitalism has functioned in a system with population growth. With plunging - and I mean plunging - TFR rates, will the entire dynamic be changed?
@DaveShapi That people can get very rich owning companies making commoditized products and services, which I know is something you refer to. But it’s worth focusing in on that insight & what it means.
But this is a brilliant post.
@DaveShapi Wow, David. This is an incredible post. Parts of it will be wrong of course but the insight is just so strikingly true.
Commodification is almost a natural part of capitalism.

@musicandroots@Curculiunculus Oh, I think Weberns Op 1 Passacaglia shows he could write a tune.
But I’d say more generally that I agree with you about song and dance but every rule has exceptions and Webern is one of them.
@musicandroots I was talking about Taylor Swift with a composer I know and it turned out both of us had genuine respect for her. I mean, she writes too much, but both of us immediately came up with some songs of hers that we liked and thought represented good craftsmanship.
@musicandroots@Curculiunculus 100%? There are a few pieces by Schoenberg and Webern that I really love, but struggling to think of any by Berg. It’s probably me, though.
@musicandroots You are totally wrong about Webern but I think I probably agree with you about Stravinsky. But that 35% contains some of the greatest music ever written.
Not unfollowing you either way.
