@JohnBaldLangLit @teachwellall I worked in a school where lining up was not done. There was no chaos. The children used their brains to navigate and demonstrated civilised behaviour. This prepared them for the real world, where mostly we donβt line up formally and mostly are civilised when entering rooms.
@ballater6@DavidDidau One problem with the AST role was that it involved leaving the classroom (!) to support other teachers and other schools. ASTβs own class taught by teaching assistants or supply teachers - not ideal.
@RobHollingswor7@LauBingham 2. β¦ between the arms! β¦ and then had it painfully, with difficulty wrenched off by the headmaster, much to the awe wonder (and maybe, delight?) of the audience. I have
@RobHollingswor7@LauBingham 1Have you ever sat (at the front) in a little Victorian wooden spindle chair with arms (designed for infant children), in a special class assembly, with 300 children, parents and staff - and discovered your bum was firmly stuck! Your hip bones wouldnβt pass back through the space
Buzzing with excitement in my beekeeper suit! π Did you know beekeeping turns your garden into a thriving ecosystem while giving you delicious, home-harvested honey? π― It's a sweet hobby that supports our environment too! #Beekeeping#NatureLover#SustainableLiving
@dave_mcpartlin When I started my teacher training in 1973 corporal punishment was still happening. When I finished in 1976 it had been banned⦠thank goodness!
@naomicfisher They developed intrinsic motivation consciously and their own βcelebrations/intrinsic rewardsβ. Complete ownership - not a gold star in sight.
@naomicfisher In my classes we (each individual) modelled our sense of satisfaction/pride/or whatever derived from a something βwell doneβ. The children learned to access this state whenever the chose to - and thereby gave themselves their own reward, whenever they decided they deserved it.
@ballater6@dave_mcpartlin I built up a side income which enabled me to leave a few years ago. I still sometime go in on supply because I enjoy the job and I no longer have that peripheral pressure. Start working on your plan B.
@ProfDanielMuijs@StuartLock The children in my classes could always leave whenever they needed to for toilet, or for stretch (brain break). (Of course if they left and did something they shouldnβt, it would be breaking our agreed rules). I found there was less silliness-the children became more responsible.
@KyrstieStubbs What are the symptoms of βnormalβ please? Iβm not sure Iβve ever seen a definition. I donβt think I have it but am open to check it out.
