We could all see the plan heading towards the right direction, the Rebuild had only just begun, but the demonic egocentric board turned on him over the truth, sacked him and the fans supported it.

As a Sporting supporter, I genuinely believe Manchester United fans will come to regret the club’s decision to dismiss Amorim. It was unfair to judge his system without first providing him with suitable midfielders and wing-backs. The club had a young, promising manager with a strong personality, someone who was also willing to challenge an underperforming board. Now, United risk being held back by veteran players who remain more out of attachment than ambition, seemingly willing to see the club decline rather than pursue new challenges elsewhere. I also find it unlikely that many managers would be eager to take on the Manchester United role at this stage of the season.

Amorim was transparent about his system and preferred style of play from the very beginning. He interviewed with Liverpool, who ultimately decided not to proceed because they wanted to play a different way, which is entirely reasonable. Manchester United, however, chose to back him. Given that he had clearly communicated his philosophy from day one, it is difficult to understand why the board later began to micromanage his work. Well, I guess I understand why they did it, because of the pressure from the likes of Gary Neville.

Rather than instructing him on how to coach, he should be allowed to do his job, while the scouting department should have fulfilled theirs by providing him with suitable midfielders and wing-backs. During his time at Sporting, he revolutionized the club’s style of play, to the extent that even the B team adopted his system to ease player transitions into the first team. And let me tell you, we played beautifully. It wasn't boring, it wasn't slow, we completely dominated teams both in the Portuguese league and europe. This is a long-term project that requires trust and patience.

Reasons why most of us believed Amorim’s system was going to work

•He made us play the most beautiful football we’ve seen since the Ferguson era.

•He made an average squad look like a proper, well coached team that actually knew what it was doing.

•We pressed teams aggressively and consistently dominating possession, shots, set pieces, and xG, something we hadn’t done in years.

•Big teams like Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal were no longer beating us by 4-5+ goals.

•He took us to Anfield and won a place we hadn’t won at in over nine years.

•He had followed the club for years and understood that there was a deep rooted rot within it.

•He knew football is a results business, but he was brave enough to try fixing the core problems before chasing short term results.

•Player power was no longer an issue because of how disciplined and firm he was.
