Then the shift lead is supposed to stop and completely restart. This is crew error and clearly an operating error. The ride should never have started, or it should have been stopped. This team was not trained right. Whoever owns this park needs to pay. #IconPark #FreeFall

Having worked at an amusement park on a relatively safe ride, I can honestly say that these rides are not built for safety. There are supposed to be a lot of safety measures in place, but the rides are not programmed to stop on their own. It must be done manually.

That is 100% the responsibility of the crew. The shift lead starts the ride only after all crew have given a thumbs up for their section. If one person does not give a thumbs up, the ride does not go. If an issue arises after it starts (like noticing seatbelts not checked)
