@TedUrchin@Janiete@UKLabour When the adults are in charge, the clowns stop amusing us, but good Government is not for our amusement, it is to make things run smoothly and is mostly rather boring.
@ToryVote_@Conservatives David Cameron cut 20,000 Police officers back in 2011.
That wasn’t the stupid bit - the stupid bit was that he announced it. (Trying to claim the glory?)
And surprise, surprise, almost immediately the reducing crime figures immediately turned round and went back up.
@DeborahMeaden@mizenator We never did need a referendum to leave the EU. All we needed was a vote in parliament.
However Parliament that we all elected, was aware of how stupid such a move would be.
So those who did want to leave used a referendum as a vehicle to bounce Parliament into voting for it.
@KemiBadenoch How much more evidence do YOU need to convince you that the country hasn’t yet forgiven your party for the utter disastrous mess you have left us with?
@PhilMyers53 The history of PM’s replaced by rivals mid term is not good. The Second PM always has a torrid time and achieves little of what is promised. This will be true even if the challenger is called Andy Burnham.
@Helen_Whately@ConHome It is absurd to talk about “other people’s money!”
If I went to the Tax department and demanded my share of “other people’s money” back, I know what response I would get - and it wouldn’t be pretty!
@Kelly3374Marg The Tories made an appalling mess of their time in office. Badenock will not be taken seriously until and unless she acknowledges that failing.
@OperaSocialist@DaveLewis12 This is the man who wants freedom of movement for himself, whilst denying it to many others.
What stupid selfishness is this?
@Karen1732@eyejosh Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely!
Labour is much earlier along that road than were their predecessors, whose focus was on corruption from day one.
@gorbalsgoebbels@franceshinde Quite true! But in addition we have become very impatient for quick fixes and they tend to be poorly enacted.
As Sir Humphrey Appleby said in “Yes! Minister”
It takes time to do things now!
@Peston History indicates that a PM being replaced almost regardless of the motive, is ALWAYS a negative move for the party.
Eg: James Callaghan, John Major, Gordon Brown, Theresa May. And others.
@Bobbity19@KernowQ@Keir_Starmer Absolutely! A tax cut represents a donation to the millionaires, and a shortage of funds for all of our services that we all depend on one way or another.
@GBPolitcs If we ask why the country is in such a mess - the answer comes back because of 14 years of Tory mis-rule - which thus far they haven’t even begun to acknowledge.
This is why it is taking Kier so long to fix it.
You cannot fix in 6 months a mess that took 14 years to create!
