Before facts are fully established, before context is weighed, before workplace safety is addressed, the easiest target is chosen: the doctor on duty.

In overcrowded wards, with limited manpower, long duty hours, and emotionally charged attendants, doctors are expected to absorb abuse, threats, and sometimes physical violence—silently. The moment a doctor reacts or defends himself, the narrative flips. He is no longer a caregiver; he is labelled misbehaved, unfit, or undeserving.

Partial video clips become judgments.
Public pressure replaces due process.
Institutional image management takes priority over truth and fairness.

If both parties are responsible, why does punishment fall disproportionately on the doctor?
If inquiry is meant for justice, why does it feel like a warning to others?

This approach does not protect patients.

I was verbally abused by a patient’s attendant . My junior resident, who happened to be passing my OPD, tried to explain that this language was inappropriate, only to be met with a barrage of highly offensive slurs related to his mother and sister. In the heat of the moment, the JR slapped him. Unfortunately, the CCTV only recorded the physical action, not the attendant’s words. Despite my protests and eyewitness account, the hospital administration asked the junior resident to resign. Just another day in the life of a doctor...This incident happened years ago,
