We need to be targeting big tech, not children.
Our plans for an age-rating system for social media would keep children safe online and incentivise big tech to make their platforms less harmful.

We offered Putin to meet anywhere where real decisions to end the war could be made. He does not want it.
We discussed with the U.S. and France the possibility of a meeting with Russia around the G7, with all democratic nations represented. Putin does not want it.
Yesterday, we discussed with President Trump that such a meeting could be organized in the U.S. – in a format where Putin would find it much harder to refuse at least to President Trump.
We will see what comes of it. If Russia refuses this chance as well, additional pressure will be needed.
From an intervention at the EU Intergovernmental Conference. (3/3)
France's Foreign Minister put it well:
A strike on the Lavra is the equivalent of bombing Notre-Dame.
This is what russia calls defending Christianity.
I’m campaigning for cheaper rail fares.
Privatisation meant higher fares every year while taxpayers paid billions in subsidies.
Labour now has a chance to do things differently.
Cheaper fares would help millions and show a Labour Government is on the side of working people.
Opinion: The medium-term horizon for UK-EU relations contains only two destinations. The first is something not so different from today, with marginally more alignment and integration. The second is rejoining the EU. https://t.co/wsQYfPZxRv
I just watched priests trying to save crucifixes from a burning monastery.
This is what russia is destroying.
The Kyiv Lavra is one of the holiest Orthodox sites on earth. A UNESCO World Heritage site.
Moscow calls itself “Christian civilisation.”
It’s literally barbarism.

KALLAS: Russia doesn't want to end this war. Regarding Ukraine's decision about their future, Russia shouldn't have a say about any other country's future but their own.
Looking at state of economy or social affairs in Russia, I'd recommend them dealing with their own problems.
Congratulations to Ukraine 🇺🇦 and Moldova 🇲🇩 on today’s historic step in their 🇪🇺 journey.
Your courage, resilience, and commitment to democratic values inspire Belarusians and all of Europe.
Our nations belong to a common European future of freedom, dignity, and peace.
Japan is set to roll out nationwide LGBTQIA+ education programs in schools, universities, and workplaces.
The goal is for more people in Japan to understand sexual orientation and gender identity outside of cisgender, heterosexual norms.

Operatives paid people to vandalise mosques, spread extremist propaganda and inflame tensions after the Southport riots
10 years ago my wife, the mum of our kids & the MP for Batley&Spen was killed by a far right extremist.
At anniversaries I try to be optimistic about the future. But not this time. In the ten years since she was killed we have gone backwards & I fear our democracy is now at risk
When Notre-Dame burned in 2019, the world stopped.
Today, Russia damages Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a monastery nearly 1,000 years old and older than Notre-Dame itself.
A thousand years of history deserves the same attention, the same sympathy, and the same protection.
Listen to this absolutely haunting sound.
Putin’s attack on the Lavra must be condemned by leaders around the world. It’s also a wake-up call, Ukraine *is* the Lavra, it’s survived but only by facing off the utter barbarity of Putin’s regime
FT Exclusive: A Russian online sabotage network was behind a series of arson attacks on Sir Keir Starmer’s family home and other targets linked to the UK prime minister, an FT investigation has found. https://t.co/QojC6ifRP2
It looks as though Vladimir Putin may have ordered an arson attack against the British Prime Minister last year.
That is an incredibly serious escalation and shows why we must redouble our efforts with Ukraine and the rest of Europe to resist and deter Putin’s aggression.
Northern Ireland remaining in the EU single market for goods means we have an entire region running as a counterfactual on how much wealthier we’d have been had we stayed. It’s actually outperformed London.
