@dilanesper I think JK Rowling thinks the best way to deny the intrusion of trans women into women's spaces like prisons, rape shelters, etc, is just to call them men. I personally want to hold the line on those issues while still using terms like 'trans woman' or even just 'woman.'

@NorthBayNews I don't have a problem with a concept of gender that allows trans people to claim a gender that is opposite of their sex and be referred that way in most contexts. But the reason for sports separation is biological, and that's where the biological category of male/female matters.

@LeorSapir The entire reason for separating sports into boys and girls (or men and women) is because the sexes are biologically different. That obviously means 'sex' should be interpreted as a biological term when the context is a sex-based separation in sports.

@carney @jonathanchait You should just admit that causation and moral responsibility are different things and admit that yes, DOGE cuts did cause deaths because of course they did. If you require an oxygen tank to live and I disable it and you die, what was the cause? Your health condition? Or me?

@carney You're conflating two claims here. You can believe that just because we don't spend money to save lives, doesn't mean we have moral culpability for those deaths. That's a defensible position. But that claim is not equivalent to saying that money can't save lifes.
