This is my department (Purdue English). Pandemic budget cuts are the immediate issue, but align with a larger campaign over several years to downsize grad programs and tenured faculty. We already stopped admitting to the prestigious Second Language Studies grad program in 2018.

[Students for Creative Writing @StudentsforCW]

We, Purdue Creative Writing students, ask for your help in objecting to the inevitable closure of the Creative Writing MFA Program as a result of the administration’s defunding of graduate education within the English Department. #SavePurdueCW https://t.co/jxgOV1zONP

[Students for Creative Writing @StudentsforCW]

We, concerned Creative Writing students from all disciplines, stand against the Dean Reingold's decision to enforce an admissions moratorium for the English Department, which would lead to the shuttering of the Creative Writing graduate program.

Letter to the editor from an engineering professor:
"While it is wonderful to see my department get larger, one cannot help but wonder if such breakneck growth was causing harm to the rest of the university."

Every engineer should have to take a class on ethics. Not just a sprinkle here and there, not just "don't plagiarize or make up data". A course where they come face to face with prior failures in their discipline, and the reality that their work can have unintended consequences

In five-billion years, as the Sun begins to die, its outer layers of glowing plasma will expand stupendously, engulfing the orbits of Mercury, then Venus, as the charred ember that was once the oasis of life called Earth vaporizes into the vacuum of space.
Have a nice day!

Why Falcon Heavy & Starman?

Life cannot just be about solving one sad problem after another. There need to be things that inspire you, that make you glad to wake up in the morning and be part of humanity. That is why we did it. We did for you.
