👏 Thanks to @RepBarragan for speaking against “Sunshine Protection” in last week’s committee meeting! 🚨 Permanent Daylight Saving Time increases depression, illnesses, and fatal accidents. 👉 Permanent Standard Time is needed instead!

People are not getting this.

In January, most of the country gets roughly 9–10 hours of daylight no matter what we call the clock.

Example:

STANDARD TIME:
☀️ Sunrise: ~7:15 AM
🌅 Sunset: ~5:00 PM

PERMANENT DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME:
☀️ Sunrise: ~8:15 AM
🌅 Sunset: ~6:00 PM

That is the SAME amount of daylight.

You did not gain sunlight.

You just moved the clock one hour later and created darker mornings in winter.

The sun doesn’t change.
The clock does

Daylight Saving Time is too fast. Standard Time is the compromise of perfection and practicality. Stop the “Sunshine Protection Act”!

@TripleNetTyler The problem with DST in the winter is that sunrise is way too late in the morning. That is why permanent DST failed before. It is awful in the winter months. 60 % of the world, including Arizona, stay on Standard Time year round and do just fine.

@peteremcc Learn from the past. Permanent DST has been tried and FAILED. Permanent Standard Time is the way. 60 percent of the world's population stays on standard time (including Arizona) and it works just fine

@SenSchumer @PressSec In Texas, to get your driver's license renewed, you have to provide a certified copy of your birth certificate if it is not already on file. I had to do that last time I renewed. It was easy - was able to order it online and it arrived in a few weeks with minimal cost.

@RepYassAnsari You have crossed the line into libel. Accusations are not guilt. Everyone you accuse without actual evidence can and should sue you. As a member of congress, you should be held to a higher standard. You are making statements as if they are fact. Innocent until proven guilty.

@piersmorgan Did you not see him sticking that microphone in the pastor's face and trying to keep him from tending to his congregation? He was not just reporting, he was actively disrupting. He was asked to leave (private property) and continued to be in his face.

@piersmorgan @PiersUncensored The US has a law prohibiting exactly what he did. A grand jury agreed. In this day and age of shootings in schools and churches, I am sure the congregants were terrified - just as the protester wanted them to bel. Don participated. You can't do that.
