@LeaningEmma Forget that I ordered two barrels (can't think of the English measure word) of water and the delivery man arrived at nine this morning. Made sure to give a nice tip for the inconvenience and possible risks taken...for water 😕 Obviously, don't normally tip as it isn't the culture
@chris__pc Tried FaceTiming my brother in the US on a whim, didn't work - though maybe because he didn't answer. That afternoon, got a call in Chinese offering a FaceTime alternative. Creepy. Said not interested.
The star of the show - given by a friend right when I left. Three-filter system that allowed for plenty of fresh mountain river/stream water without all of the microbes and other bits that won't do your stomach any good #watertogo
#Zhagana, #gannan A 4 day, 3 night solo hike at 3,500m turned into a 42 km 2 day, 1 night hike due to poor directional sense. A few Tibetan herders, yaks, and some Himalayan #marmots - good for a little me time! #China#hiking Though, I'm seriously city soft...
#Romanian countryside #Sighișoara - adolescent brown #bear tracks had the little hairs on my neck standing strong at 6 am. Learned upon returning to the hotel that a female hiker was killed by a bear the month previous - yikes!
#Dubrovnik, #Croatia - a hard place to say goodbye to. Fun searching for some of the connections with Game of Thrones and my wife had her Cerci moment, minus the shame :)
@Whotfismick I believe there's a bell curve - young and it is at its peak, taking a dip when we get older, and our own curves become harder to manage. Once we get really old, there's a little place in the fridge reserved for these treats as they are cheap and easy to store. Nod to Grandma!
@thetrueshelby Little men hiding behind masks. Their use of the word 'liberty' is about as fitting as when dictators add 'democratic' to the title of their country.
Random graffiti - a fan of graffiti, think 70's & 80's NYC, though not simple tagging - a guess not much of a difference to many. Not sure what to make of this - Tongren & Nanyang Lu #shanghai#graffiti Who is this guy?
@GreatHopForward@BeerGuysRadio This was back in 2002-2004. When malicious the situations were either when out with a girl - the comments led to not having a second date more than once (hearing guys sneer and say it left girls uncomfortable), or when friends/coworkers told to cheat me on price as I was a gui lo
@BeerGuysRadio@GreatHopForward All about the intent, the tone, I suppose. Often it was as simple as, "Whoa, tall guil lo" or, "Look, a gui lo". Though at times it was said with contempt. Can't say it was affectionate, but rarely felt malicious. Heard a handful of times everyday. Became as common as a car horn
@BeerGuysRadio@GreatHopForward When living in Guangxi, Beihai, I'd hear the name of this bar on a daily basis, though obviously for different reasons 😂
