Interesting. This was the month when the Trump-era decline in the number of employees on the federal payroll stopped. It ticked up just ever so slightly from 2.676 million to 2.677 million between April and May.
West Virginia's Republican Gov. Patrick Morrisey stood alongside President Trump as the president announced a $700 million investment in coal and the construction of the first coal plant in the U.S. since 2013 in West Virginia.
Morrisey says "West Virginia is going to be America's battery," providing the energy needed for data centers and other technology.
"The power demand is insatiable," Morrisey says. "For technology, for AI, you're going to need coal to be extended significantly. You're going to need a lot of gas. You're going to need a lot of nuclear, other forms of energy. So, I think that we have to be thinking this way."
The top federal prosecutor in Los Angeles said Friday said there are "multiple election fraud investigations underway" but did not give any information or specifics. https://t.co/zn9CsEMdyc
Nearly 3 in 5 of the 172k jobs created in May were in local government or sectors heavily subsidized by government (health care, social assistance, education). Another 70k were in leisure & hospitality. That leaves ZERO on net created across the remainder of the economy. @SquawkStreet@AmericanFreedom
Another strong month for job growth. 172K in May with upward revisions for previous months that brings the three month average to 188K.
Unemployment rate stable at 4.3% while broader measures (U-6 and employment rate) both improved.
Wowee!!!!
Payrolls grew a massive +172k in May, well above expectations.
April also revised up +64k to +179k, and March revised up +29k to +214k.
The labor market appears to be motoring along after a slow 2025.
Take that recession talk off the table.
Of all the law enforcement agencies involved in the Epstein case, Michael Reiter and his lead detective, the late Joe Recarey, stood alone in the battle to put Epstein behind bars for good. In some ways, he has paid the price ever since.

$AVGO CEO ON AI GIGAWATT DEMAND
“The dollars per gigawatt... is relatively stable. But the number of gigawatts will keep growing... accelerate.”
“We’re talking about compute capacity... way ahead of what we fully expected, say, six months ago.”
“We expect, in fact, 2028 to be a substantial growth from what we are forecasting in 2027.”
There it is - Trump endorses far-right populist outsider Abelardo de la Espriella in Colombia’s election ahead of the June 21 runoff.
He makes sure to note that it’s partly because of “his political support for me, personally”
