Ehh, I don’t think you’re that much of a fan of the character. Gunn’s Superman isn’t less of a cornball than his comic counterpart, if anything you could argue he’s more of one.

Gunn doesn’t really do anything with Superman that hasn’t been done before. The character has endured since the 1930s on his own merits. Gunn did well with tone, but nothing groundbreaking.
The aspects you say you find modern are things I can find in his comics many decades back.

@sapphyreblayze Hey! Slight correction. MJ didn’t buy “the Beatles’ discography”. He bought ATV Music Publishing in 1985 which contained many songs across multiple artists and decades including songs by the Beatles, Elvis, and the Rolling Stones. It didn’t include the Beatles’ entire catalogue.
