On July 15, 2008, Jodi Arias was left alone in a police interrogation room hours after her arrest for murdering her ex-boyfriend. The camera kept recording. She fixed her hair, got down on the floor and did a headstand against the wall. A month earlier, in his shower, she had stabbed him 27 times, cut his throat and shot him in the head.
His name was Travis Alexander, and his roommates in Mesa, Arizona didn’t find him for five days. What gave her away was a camera somebody had run through the washing machine. Police still recovered the photos: Travis in the shower minutes before he died, and then a picture of someone bleeding on the bathroom floor.
In the video below she’s alone in that room, upside down against the wall, then sitting on the floor like she’s waiting for a bus. Later on the same tape she tells herself, “You should have at least done your makeup, Jodi.” The jury at her trial never saw any of it.
She first told police she hadn’t been in Arizona at all. Then she said two masked intruders killed him. At trial she said it was self-defense. In 2013 the jury convicted her of first-degree murder, two separate juries couldn’t agree on a death sentence, and in 2015 she got life without parole.
Was she falling apart in that room, or completely sure she’d get away with it?
A TODDLER WITH BURNS ON HER FACE AND CHEST WAITED 32 HOURS FOR HELP.
She was 23 months old. She died September 21 in Paris, Illinois.
Courtney Heath and Payton Beaver, the girl’s father, are charged with first degree murder.
An Illinois State Police agent testified she was in Heath’s care when she suffered major burns to her face, chest, abdomen and back.
Both knew, the agent testified. They waited 32 hours. They called 911 only once she was unconscious.
Why? Beaver said he feared police and child services, per the testimony.
The autopsy says she died of sepsis.
Status hearing November 20.
She couldn’t pick up a phone. She couldn’t ask for help. That was the adults’ only job.
What kind of fear outweighs a burned baby?

Between 1974 and 1986 a man broke into homes across California at night, murdered 13 people and raped at least 51. They called him the Golden State Killer. For more than 40 years nobody knew his name.
For part of that time, he was a cop.
In 1979 he was caught stealing a hammer and dog repellent from a store. He faked a heart attack, then rolled around on a chair pretending to be insane, then admitted it was an act. The department fired him. The murders went on for seven more years.
In 2018 investigators traced crime scene DNA through a genealogy website and secretly swabbed the door handle of his car. His name was Joseph DeAngelo. He was 72.
Then he rolled into court in a wheelchair, slumped over and barely speaking. He looked like a confused old man.
Twelve days before he pleaded guilty, a jail camera filmed him climbing onto the desk in his cell to cover the light. Prosecutors wanted to show the footage in court, and the judge said no.
So after he was sentenced, the DA played it for the cameras.
In the video below he climbs up on the furniture in his cell and blocks out the light with paper. Prosecutors said it was the same thing he did inside the homes he broke into, covering TVs and lights so he could stay in the dark.
“We were struck by what happened 45 years later.”
He took a deal that spared him the death penalty. At sentencing he stood up and said, “I’m truly sorry to everyone I’ve hurt.” He will die in prison.
He faked being helpless in 1979 and again at 74, so should a man like that ever have been allowed to trade a guilty plea for his life?

Luckily they pay us back by 📴ing us, so that pretty much settles the score right there, right?
Boy we sure have a lot of greatest allies. Other countries must be so jealous. 🇺🇸!🇺🇸!🇺🇸!
My annual renewal is coming up in mid-November
$10 for the year (but most of this gets added to my account balance as points -- penny a point -- with my phone's call rate at $0.10/min & texts $0.10 each). Except I never turn the phone on.
My (second) phone (first had bad keys):
Had to renew my cell phone today and once again totally SHOCKED at the prices of my pretty basic plan here in Canada 👀 $120 a month for just the plan, not including the phone. INSANE 😒
@FrankBr05713205 Decades ago I was a renter in a house full of them. Furnace went out. I called repair. $85. I just withheld $85 from my next rent payment. Landlord came by, asked if I had the receipt, I handed it to him and that was that.
Nothing quite like taking matters into your own hands.
