@mohammedhersi@messedupfoods The original post seems to be in the US, where in several states servers/waitstaff are legally paid less than minimum wage with the expectation that they will make up the deficit with tips. Totally different situation from ours.
@CanisLupus003@Warighej@Whitneytechs Where do people get these placid cats? Agreeing to enter a tub of water just like that? Ama Kenyan cats are built different? Because mine... wah. If I tried this with ONE I'd be sending you messages from the afterlife.
@anto_ty LISTEN! I am convinced that I mentally pulled him across the finish line at the 2005 NYC Marathon. In fact ebu let me look for him so he can thank me properly because I suffered that day.
Last evening, we watched Too Early for Birds: Wangari Maathai’s Edition, and it was a mind-blowing show. Anisa Akinyi, who plays the role of Maathai, looked, spoke, and moved just like her. It was surreal
The play powerfully captures the life of Wangari Maathai, from her humble village upbringing to her extraordinary courage, resilience, and the heavy price she paid for defying a dictatorship that was destroying our environment. Without her activism, there would be no Uhuru Park, Karura Forest, or many of the other water catchment areas she fought so hard to protect. Her story is one that stays with you long after the curtain falls.
Experiencing it with my family made the evening even more meaningful, a powerful reminder of the kind of legacy worth building.
