What eventually won me over about President Trump wasn't anything specific he had done, except saying a few things very few would. What won me over was a pattern recognition of the masses, that had quickly normalized using him as a scapegoat. Like so many others in history, individual people in positions of power become the focus of our frustration or instinct to rebel against "the system". A system that actually represents our collective will, culture, desires... especially in the context of American government or politics. We call these individuals tyrants, while conveniently overlooking all the institutional corruption and tyranny that has built up around us. That we reap the benefits from. Example, "Trump Bad", but The Federal Reserve is "necessary".

This doesn't mean individuals can't be corrupt and tyrannical, that we shouldn't object, or that they shouldn't face consequences. But across a big enough time horizon, if you only object to individuals and effectively use them as a way to maintain ALL the other corruption throughought the system, you end up just fooling yourself. The logic, reason and truth, inevitably breakdown. More times you end up projecting your own guilt onto that individual. Not an easy problem to solve for humanity. The ability to maintain a moral and ethical superstructure for society is a tall task. However, our impetus to gaslight ourselves into believing we can crucify one man to offload our collective sins is pathetic.

Republican Party basic pitch, we want limited government. Too many Republicans have forgotten this core principle... Democrats want the government big enough to blot out the sun.
