1 in 5 children recognised with #send is not an "explosion". In the year 2000 itwas the same figure -

Ascribing that false claim to "finding a tribe" & somehow the shadowy terror of social media is nonsense.

Gemma Collins walks into the Department for Education and asks, “Right, what are we doing to help the children?”
Bridget Phillipson opens the door and says, “Come on in, let’s have a chat.”
This was not a spontaneous clip.
It was a scripted shoot. Camera set-ups. Lighting. Captions. Edits. Ministerial access. Talent coordination. Social media planning. Sign-off.
That means a lot of people saw this before the public did.
Ministers. Advisers. Comms teams. Agency staff. Producers. Editors. Social media strategists. Possibly legal and propriety reviewers too.
And not one person thought, “Hold on, this is not going to land well”?
Additionally, why did not one person question whether a reality-TV style release was the right tone for children’s policy, less than 24 hours after serious safeguarding allegations involving Married at First Sight UK were reported?

New: Academy trust that brought in the nine-day fortnight “needs classes of 120 to allow it to continue”

Detailed piece on union concerns about goings-on at Dixons Academies Trust, with redundancies proposed.
Oh, I forgot: piece also includes section highlighting councillor with SEND child's tale of how the TES Class Charts app adds, he says, to parental anxiety, with its frequent updates of what child has been up to at school. Resonates.
As well as this article, I have published extended extracts of speeches from this debate – including the views of the one dissenting councillor – in this open access piece: https://t.co/I9rPPFb6FV
It indicates that councils can be prepared to look at the impact of academy policies, even though the schools report to the DfE in terms of the education they provide, with local authorities having powers with respect to monitoring safeguarding.
This development comes after another council, Hackney in London, instigated its own inquiry into safeguarding practices at one of the Mossbourne academies.
Another said: “In some cases, school behaviour policies, however well-intentioned, may actually be adding to [the pressures on young people], rather than helping to relieve them.”
These have been discussed at public meetings recently, a local paper reporting, for eg, of parents alleging a lack of SEND support, children not allowed to use the toilet during lessons and being punished for things like “forgetting to untuck their collar after PE”.

NEW: Florida teacher fired after hanging a black doll with a cord wrapped around the doll’s neck in class.
The incident happened at Barrington Middle School in Hillsborough County.
One of the students says after class the teacher, Karen Savage, started following him when he went to report what happened.
“After I saw what was happening, I just, like, decided that, like, I wanted to get proof that it actually happened,” middle school student Noah Carter said.
“She followed me after class was over, and that’s when she started talking over me and not letting me speak when I was trying to report what she did.”
Former student of Horris Hill School in Newbury @WyndhamWallace has expressed ‘relief’ at the news of the school's closure after suffering years of alleged abuse within its halls.
Describing his experiences at the school, he said: “We lived in a state of 24/7 terror at that school because even those of us who weren’t being assaulted knew that others were being assaulted. It was an unspoken understanding.
With you in solidarity Wyndham. Keep pushing for answers. ✊

@Lisa_SEND@AdStandardsIRE@irnbru@redbull There have been no end of plugs for iron bru by Philipson. She’s obviously being paid for it. It’s highly inappropriate.
Did not know political figures could advertise high sugar drinks and use their power of position @AdStandardsIRE I do not feel this advert @irnbru or the @redbull would meet CAP code - additionally how money has been declared by BP for these marketing campaigns? #SENDreforms
