I have great respect for Houston's police officers and the responsibilities they take on each day, often in difficult and unpredictable circumstances. I'm grateful to the @HPOUTX for its endorsement of my continued service on the First Court of Appeals.
My years in private practice and local government have given me an appreciation for how decisions made by public institutions affect the people and businesses in our communities.
I'm thankful to @HRBC1 for its endorsement of my continued service on the First Court of Appeals.
For decades, the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas (@CLEAT) has provided legal representation and professional support to officers across our state. I appreciate that work and am honored to receive CLEAT's endorsement.
I'm grateful to receive the endorsement of the @HoustonChron Editorial Board for my continued service on the First Court of Appeals.
The editorial board cited temperament and knowledge of the law in making its recommendation. Both are important qualities in an appellate judge, and I've worked to bring them to my service on the bench.
The Houston Bar Association recently released the results of its 2026 Judicial Preference Poll. I’m pleased to share that I received 59% of the votes cast in the race for Place 4 on the First Court of Appeals. I appreciate the confidence expressed by members of Houston’s legal community who participated.
Serving on the First Court of Appeals has allowed me to work alongside dedicated colleagues, hear arguments from lawyers representing people across our region, and consider questions of law that affect Texans in many different circumstances.
Those experiences reinforce the importance of approaching each case with preparation, an open mind, and respect for the law.
Early voting begins Monday, October 19!
I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the Houston Association of Women Attorneys, and I’m grateful for their confidence in me.
Serving on the First Court of Appeals is the honor of my professional life. Every case deserves careful preparation, thoughtful analysis, and a faithful application of the law. I remain committed to bringing that approach to every decision.
My sincere thanks for their support. Early voting begins October 19.
Gina and I join the rest of the First Court of Appeals family in mourning the loss of our beloved colleague and friend, Justice Kristin Guiney.
Kristin was a dedicated servant of the law who enriched our court with her experience, judgment, humility, and humanity. More than that, she was a wonderful friend and colleague.
We will miss her more deeply than words can express. Our hearts are with Ed, their daughters, and all those who knew and loved Kristin during this incredibly difficult time.
