The new Income Tax (amendment) Bill, 2023 seek under S. 86A to impose a tax on bloggers not resident in Uganda and also under S. 111A any one now selling property in uganda to withhold a tax on the total purchase price. This will have a big bearing on conveyancing under s.111A.

HC: Frivolous and Vexatious though interchangeably used by lawyers are two different words. A frivolous claim is one that has no serious purpose or value. It 8s a matter so trivial and meritless. Vexatious claim is one intended to harass annoy another party.

HC has held today that paragraph 1(1) of the 3rd schedule of VAT Act is ambiguous and the ambiguity should be construed in favour of the Tax payer. Cereals grown and milled in Uganda are zero rated supplies and the farmer is entitled to input VAT credit. Thanks @FrancisGimara
