Look at this.
Allbirds, $BIRD, is a shoe company.
It said it will rebrand to Newbird AI.
It will convert its assets to "acquire high-performance GPU assets."
It is up 600% today.
One of my team members is of Iranian descent. The American president threatening civilizational genocide is not a topic in the leadership handbook. This is beyond insanity, and we're far past the point of needing the 25th amendment invoked.
There's no question this is a historic misallocation of capital that could otherwise be spent on improving lives today and not in some sort of fever dream, magical "AGI" future.
What if the whole LLM thing is a false start? If the flaws are inherent systemic problems - if the compounding of hallucinations/errors can't be sorted out? If the capex build out is one of the biggest misallocations of capital ever? Then what? https://t.co/XVhr6mfCTN
Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Dayton, Toledo, and Akdon prop up the states economy. They're 85% of the GDP and 83.5% of it's jobs.
If it weren't for "Ohio's run into the ground cities," Ohio would be a "dead state."
Wrote down some thoughts on how design skill sets need to evolve to meet the moment, including designing for predictive and generative experiences instead of static and deterministic ones. https://t.co/WgOYdFfoeK
One thing about AI that often gets overlooked, imo: chatting with a bot to get basic things done is poor UX. This is why Walmart's OpenAI-powered chatbot ultimately failed to the tune of a 3x lower conversion rate than its website.
NNg 2026 State of UX: senior practitioners gaining ground, mid-level under real pressure. AI handles execution well enough that headcount math changes. What separates the two isn't tools. It's judgment.

The design systems question stopped being "do we need one." Now it's who owns the governance layer when AI is generating 40% of your UI. Most orgs haven't even asked that yet.

Five-year career plans don't work when the roles, tracks, and orgs keep shifting underneath you. I wrote about building a Career OS instead, a living system for making intentional moves in a field that won't sit still. Part 1 of a nine-part series.

New Open Tabs is out.
Design roles: flat since 2023. ~5,700 open globally. PMs surged past 7,300. The ratio flipped — PMs now 1.27x more in demand than designers.
Also: an accessibility deadline 4 weeks out, Figma's $200M pivot, and more.

60% of companies cut headcount for AI that hasn't performed and only 2% based on actual results. 55% of those CEOs already regret it.
Design jobs are being lost to a future that doesn't exist yet.
