NEW: Baby thrown out of a second-story window caught by a police officer as a house erupts in flames in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Bodycam shows a police officer rushing to a house fire where a mother and her infant were trapped on the second story.

The officer instructed the woman to kick out the window screen and throw the child to him.

After catching the child, firefighters were able to deploy a ladder and rescue the mother from the window.

"So I knew the first thing I would do was get all the occupants out of the house. Property can be replaced. Obviously, lives can't."
