I find it utterly bizarre that teams like Chelsea and Man City, who basically bought trophies via illegal means, through money that's more than likely laundered; get less hate than we have through building the club the right way. We should be the blueprint for clubs.
@Broadsword73@ricknotowens We've never had money pumped in, we went through the same cycle of having to sell our best players to strengthen. Berbatov, Carrick, Bale, Modric etc.
ENIC and specifically Levy did what all good private investors do, they focused on making the business self sufficient.
@britcliffe1988 The prize money for finishing where we did vs Newcastle was around £2 million from what I understand.
I do agree regarding the rules though, it's undeniable it protects just a few clubs. 13 clubs voted for it though, which seems a bit naive by a few of them.
@onemaskedgunner Yeah that's a good point, it's a universally accepted opinion so it almost doesn't have to be said out loud.
Also, social media always makes it feel bigger than what it is. Normal football fans on the street enjoy a bit of banter without being so bitter about everything.
@PDBertram Maybe not, but their supporters through those times certainly ended up paying the price of the decisions made by those respective owners.
Anyway, it's been good debating with you. It's refreshing to talk to someone on here without them insulting you 😂
@PDBertram Cardiff City nearly did because of the financial mismanagement by Vincent Tan during their stint in the EPL.
Leeds United gamble and went all out and spent decades paying for that decision.
There will be others as well 🤷♂️
@WoodyFuts I don't care if people like or rate Spurs at all, I just find the forced rivalries really bizarre.
Any club who build in the right way deserves people's respect.
@PDBertram I don't disagree, but unfortunately there have been owners that have destroyed clubs because there was no level of control enforced upon them.
@moo_tang_clan 😂 that's not the point I made though was it.
No dirty oil money or underhanded cheating and they'd possibly have maintained the same level of success they have throughout their history. 1 league title, 3 FA Cups and 2 league cups.
@PDBertram I get that, the cut off has been beneficial to certain clubs. But we've built in a far more ethical way than the other clubs in question. Whilst I don't expect other fans to celebrate it, I think the desire to 'pile on' is unnecessary. The need to force a rivalry is alien to me.
@PDBertram That's it settled then 🙄
Every post about Tottenhams transfer activity is flooded by Newcastle and Villa fans complaining about the 17th place finishes. Go back and look at Fabrizio Romano's posts and then find a Man City or Chelsea transfer post and compare the two.
