@Boss_Librarian ArtForm is a creative reuse store, but is about an hour by bus (20 minutes by car).
Rosie’s Calico Cupboard is about an hour and half (or less) by train and bus (20 minutes by car).
@kelseybogan Hope you enjoy! My myth loving teen also recommends the Overly Sarcastic Productions channel
On YouTube and the Epic musical (released in 3 song sagas).
@silversj I second StoryGraph. This past year I was going to use it and Goodreads and then just droped Goodreads by February. I have found that I like tracking my reading there better and appreciate the ability to rate in .25 increments.
@sm_wordsmith@kelseybogan Same!!! I could use a mini class to learn more and dive deeper, but I can’t wait to learn more so I can teach my students about it.
@shirky17 High school librarian - We’re opening MakerSpace this year and all our learning will be done on our own time. Luckily, we have an Engineering Pathway lead who can assist our learning.
@manga_librarian@sm_wordsmith Thank you, both. I accidentally ordered a few light novels (not a bad thing, just unexpected because I wasn’t paying careful attention and mistook them for their manga counterparts) and have been struggling to figure out where to shelve them!
@sm_wordsmith@manga_librarian and any other school librarians
Where do you shelf your light novels? With manga? In general fiction? Do they get their own section?
Inspired by K.C. Boyd’s student posters, we’re highlighting what some of our staff read over the summer with these signs (and corresponding displays). And then we’re going to make posters of any interested students and staff through the year.
Our teachers first day is today and the theme is “camp.” I finally got myself organized and this is the welcome/collaborate with me goodies that I am giving them.
@kelseybogan Today, while discussing the types of films these might be, I mentioned that Uno might work best as a horror film. I’d love a cinematic universe that has many genres.
@theryanlasala My teen says “how to write good/healthy relationships between characters (friends/romantic/family relationships).” And basic character development.
Writing is one of the things they enjoy, though.
@ColtonJUSD@CJUSD_MH@CJUSDHR What is CJUSD doing to provide space & time for employees to take care of themselves?
Honestly, these presentations mean nothing without action from the district. And providing supports that require us to step away from our jobs without having enough coverage is disrespectful.
I’m heading to my first #ALAAC23 as part of the 2023 class of Emerging Leaders. Can’t wait to hang with @veal_brandi & “meet” all the wonderful library staff I follow here!
I saw “meet” because I’ll probably recognize you, but I am too shy to just go up to you & start talking.
I am so grateful that our thespians asked us to play small roles in their production of High School Musical. Having the chance to see students do the things that they are passionate about is one of the best perks of working with youth! This photo was taken by one of our teachers.
