It's just not right when governments think they know better than the experts and want to control and kill our dogs for the sins of the few. You don't need to be an expert to see that judging on looks alone is WRONG and judging on HEIGHT is downright irrational #ENDBSL#halfaninch
Urgent please retweet to help Taz find a home #STOKE#UK
💔💔💔AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, AGED 15!! 💔💔💔
Now in a council pound
Taz is a 15 year old (15 just turned in may) male neutered x breed, Taz has come in via the dog warden service and he has not been re-claimed.
Due to Taz being a stray this means we hold no history on him at all 🙁 due to Taz's age we may not know how long his potential new owner may have him for but he does deserve the best!, Taz's previous owner has looked after him extremely well and he is in a surprisingly good condition for his age!
Since Taz has been with us he has been a quiet relaxed boy who does a lot of sleeping and pondering around, he does still also have a spring in his step and likes to wander!, he is fantastic on the lead and ignores the other dogs and does not pull at all, however we do not recommend that he is off lead as he will be off and on his travels!
We do think Taz needs a quiet relaxed home where he can wander around with his owner and spend his time with them and also be their best friend!, we will say no to small children as he doesn't like to be over bared with affection at times. He would enjoy a retired owner or someone at home during the day .
To arrange a meet and greet Taz please call us on 01782 304 130 11am until 4pm.

For too long, too many people have faced an impossible choice: secure a home, or keep their dog. And too often, it’s the dog that loses.
By challenging blanket “no pets” policies and giving renters a fairer chance to request a pet, this change has the potential to keep more dogs (and other pets) where they belong — in loving homes, not in rescue kennels.
Dogs are not disposable and this is progress. Let’s build on it.
Healthy animals are euthanised + we don’t record when it happens
No data, no transparency + no way to understand or reduce it
I’ve started a petition to change that + to make recording + reporting this a legal requirement
If this matters to you pls ✍️
https://t.co/xDSp0kRoXn
It would be incredibly simple for police, local authorities, and veterinary practices to record when a dog is euthanised if a centralised microchip database existed.
Every dog is already required to be microchipped. The missing piece is coordination.
Imagine a system where:
▪️ Every dog is registered from birth, as outlined in the Stop Breed for Greed model
▪️ Microchip records are centrally linked and accessible to authorised bodies
▪️ When a dog is euthanised, this is logged against their microchip in real time
This would create, for the first time, a clear and transparent picture of what is actually happening to dogs across the UK.
- No more estimates.
- No more hidden numbers.
- No more preventable deaths going unrecorded.
Police, councils, and vets already handle these animals - adding a simple reporting step would not be complex, but the impact would be huge.
With accurate data, we can:
▪️ Identify where and why healthy dogs are being put to sleep
▪️ Hold systems accountable
▪️ Drive targeted reforms to reduce unnecessary euthanasia
Right now, dogs are disappearing from the system without a trace. A central database, combined with lifetime registration, would change that.
Because every dog should count - in life, and in death.
Stop Breed for Greed are proud to support fellow campaigners working to improve outcomes for dogs across the UK. Having learned that thousands of dogs are euthanised every year behind closed doors through our own research, we recognise just how important this petition is. URGENT GLOBAL ACTION: The UK parliament is scheduled to debate animal toxicity testing this Monday afternoon.
We need to make sure the Prime Minister is aware of the international outrage at the recent footage out of UK toxicity testing labs. This will support the many MPs standing up for the animals in this debate.
Sending a message to the British PM will take a minute more than our normal actions – but it is such an important action to take.
Please go to Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s contact form and tell him about this harrowing new evidence out of UK laboratories ➡️ https://t.co/pJA2VOMfIH
Your message can be simple and short, but please convey these sentiments:
1️⃣You are shocked and distressed by the recent footage of beagles, primates and other animals suffering in toxicity testing labs in the UK.
2️⃣Call on him as PM to act to end it. There is no justification for inflicting such suffering on animals, especially when modern human-relevant technologies already exist to replace these tests.
Once you’ve sent the form, you will receive a validation link to your email which you need to click for the message to go through. Please don’t miss this important step!
Once you have taken action, comment DONE below to let us know. The animals are counting on us to speak up for them. Thank you. 🙏
From 1 May, our posts about the dogs will be infrequent on X.

They deserve to be seen, and that isn’t happening here following recent algorithm changes which favour high-engagement, quick-scroll content from large accounts.
We are very sad that it has come to this.

Microchipping pets is already the law - but what about access to the data when it actually matters?
Plans for a new central microchip lookup system were meant to ensure simple, universal access. Now there are concerns it may shift to an industry-led model with possible commercial fees.
That’s a problem.
Vets, wardens, rescues, and police need fast, unrestricted access to reunite lost pets with their owners. Adding costs or barriers risks slowing that process down - and weakening the whole point of microchipping.
A legal requirement only works if the system behind it is accessible to all.
Reuniting pets shouldn’t depend on who can pay.
Please sign and share the petition 🙏
I am finding some of the responses to Hannah Spencer's very serious point just baffling.
Paramedics, bus drivers, nurses doctors all work late. They cannot drink alcohol whilst at work. Reeking of alcohol/being pissed is a serious disciplinary matter.
All the incredible people running the London Marathon to raise millions for charitable causes but Telegraph would rather feature someone running to protect cruel blood sports
Essex farmer Matthew Register has been hit by hare coursers over 200 times in 8 months. He has been assaulted 11 times and lost £30,000 in crop damage.
Rural communities need more protection. Call 999 if you see hare coursers in action.

This is the Government’s press release about the promised Central Microchip Portal in March 2024 :- https://t.co/ea7qKDT4Vi
Our petition, asking where has the Central Portal gone? https://t.co/vuTl8q6oWt
Supported by @RSPCA_official@The_Blue_Cross , @Battersea_ and @DogsTrust
FYI:
THE PROMISE:
In March 2024, @DefraGovUK announced the Central Microchip Portal. For those of us who have followed the failures of the UK’s pet microchipping system for years, this felt like a genuine breakthrough. A single, publicly accountable portal. One login for vets, wardens and police. Instant, 24/7 access to all microchip records across every approved database. A lost pet, a microchip scan and registration check, a phone call a reunion within the hour.
The current system has 25 separate commercial databases with incompatible logins and no joined-up access. Authorised users searching for a chip match, find the database and then the problems begin with most databases working 9-5 Monday to Friday, some databases have call centres who take messages, some databases still relying on phone messaging or emails, the person with your lost dog or cat can wait days or even a week for a response from them. Animals go unidentified. Owners go without answers. The Central Portal was going to fix that.
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED:
A new government came in during July 2024. The Central Microchip Portal was quietly dropped. No full explanation. No debate. No alternative announced at the time.
Now we are being told that the Association of Microchip Database Operators — known as AMDO — will lead the development of a replacement. AMDO represents just 10 of the 25 self-regulated databases. Their proposed solution is described by Defra as industry-led and commercially driven.
Why this alarms me and many other pet owners:
The organisations that have profited from the fragmented system are now being handed control of designing the unified one. That is not reform. That is the industry writing its own rules.
A “commercially driven” solution means that access to microchip data — data that exists because the law requires our pets to be chipped — could be restricted behind paywalls or subscription models. Vets, wardens and police may have to pay for access they were promised for free. Pet owners may eventually pay simply to have their own animal’s data found. And AMDO represents fewer than half the databases. What happens to the animals registered on the other 15?
— What legal authority does AMDO have to design and operate what is effectively a public safety infrastructure?
— Can the government guarantee that no pet owner, vet, warden or police officer will be charged for accessing microchip data through any new system?
— Will all 25 databases be required to participate on equal terms?
— Is Defra satisfied that an industry body with commercial interests is an appropriate lead for a system underpinned by animal welfare legislation?
Microchipping is the law. The reunification system that makes it meaningful should be a public service — not a commercial product. We were promised that. We deserve that.
It’s a big ask but we need to find, before 5th June, just over 80,000 more signatures for the petition to save the promised Central Microchip Portal which was virtually ready to be produced, please sign and repost, we desperately need your help: https://t.co/vuTl8q6oWt

We’re still looking for a new home for Ace, can you please share her appeal to help her on her way?
Ace is a female 5 year old Mixed Collie x.
She is available and looking for a new home.
Ace would be suitable with someone who is active and likes the outdoors. She is use to teenagers but not younger kids, therefore a home with older kids is best.
Ace is registered with the vets and healthy.
She eats wet and dry food and can be left on her own. She may bark but soon settles down.
Ace sleeps on the bedroom floor at night or in with her owners son. She loves company.
Ace might bark when meeting new people and then she is okay.
She is house trained and loves going out in the car.
Ace can sometimes pull on the lead, she also wears a harness.
Ace loves getting her treats and also sits to give a paw and roll over when she is asked.
She loves toys and will play with her ball.
Ace would be great for someone who likes to get outside as she is very active and would thrive on adventures with her new owner (s).
For more information or to offer Ace a new home please email [email protected] with the subject Ace Collie.
Sorry we are unable to reply to messages to the page.
URGENT FROM FB:
‼️🚨 BEING EUTHANIZED 4/24🚨‼️🤬 Left to die after being starved. How do we tell her she is going to die? She was given toys and a blanket to show her some kind of love before she is killed on Friday. The most heartbreaking part, she holds onto the toy caring for it as if it was her puppy. The only comfort she will have before her final walk to the room that has seen many other dogs take their last breath.
Neglected, hw positive. ‼️🚨 FOSTER, ADOPTER NEEDED🚨‼️
