When you’re near water: STOP & THINK.
💧Be prepared. Learn how to float on your back.
💧Understand the risks. Warm weather doesn’t mean warm water.
💧Know your limits. Even strong swimmers can struggle.

Not my usual tweet but I want a little rant. I got gifted 2 tickets to the Chelsea Flower Show so went with a friend yesterday. We paid for an overnight stay in a hotel, train fares and food. I can honestly say it was AWFUL. It was unbelievably busy with huge numbers of people making it impossible to walk - we were just shoved along by the crowd. I couldn’t see any of the show gardens because the fight to see them was 5 people deep. Even if you did get to the front you were being pressured to move on. We gave up after 3 hours and went to the Chelsea Physic Garden along the road which was a much welcome oasis of calm. The organisers of the show should be ashamed of themselves. Visitor numbers need limiting and I feel so sorry for anyone for whom this was a first time long awaited visit #RHSChelsea #RHSChelseaFlowerShow

On the train back reflecting on an inspiring day .. so much love in London today. The London Marathon always has me emotional .. well done to ALL who smashed it today. Be proud. Be very proud.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR PHONE OUT IN PUBLIC IN CENTRAL LONDON! Was stood waiting to cross the road at corner Marble Arch and Oxford Street just now and turned to see bloke on very fast electric bike heading up behind me. I turned and he turned away. I stood and watched as it was obvious what was going to happen next and sure enough, he snatched the phone of a young woman stood at the bus stop. Then off down Oxford Street for more. Face fully covered. If we had a police force in London this could easily be stopped, but instead, dozens of people a day have their lives made shit by these vermin. I’m in a shop writing this. Put your phone away on the streets. Take care. Be safe.
Good morning, John @JohnTizard & thank you. I am in the fortunate position to have a great many images to call upon to display here so, inevitably, some get overlooked from time to time! Here's a good example: "Boatyard, Walberswick" by Harold Steggles from 1935. #HaroldSteggles

🎉 Over 30,000 crochet poppies have now been donated to the Poppies on Southend Pier appeal!
The poppies have been handmade by people all around the UK and the world. They will all be used to decorate the entire length of the world’s longest pleasure pier.
The stunning tribute is being created to honour our armed forces and mark Remembrance Day in a truly unique way - with the thousands of red crocheted and knitted poppies set to decorate the pier in November.
Whether you’re a crafting pro or just fancy giving it a go, there’s still time to get involved.
📮 Send your finished poppies to:
Poppies Appeal, Southend Pier, Western Esplanade, Southend-on-Sea, SS1 1EE
The Poppies on the Pier event will run from 5 - 16 November 2025.

WATER SAFETY!!
The weather is FINALLY warming up this weekend and the UK is expecting to reach high temperatures.
DON'T risk your life by swimming in open water.
Stay safe in the warmer weather and only swim in controlled areas.
