@usedgov Can you apply these same benefits to joint spousal consolidation loan holders? You know, while we CONTINUE to wait for you to figure out how to separate our loans? We’ve been paying the ENTIRE PAUSE.
@usedgov Separate FFEL Joint Spousal Consolidated Loans now! You are required by law to do it. You are our only roadblock now preventing us from qualifying for payment pause.
@SecCardona@usedgov “We value teachers”…Unless their federally approved bank advised them into a spousal consolidation plan. We’ve paid far more than we ever borrowed, have never been in default, and still have a balance of 80k+ just a few years before retirement. Both 20 yrs public school teachers
Who will be the one to tell this SL Story? Of victims paying Ex spouse's debt for decades, left behind in 2006 only to be ignored by DoE still. Shattered by broken hope despite LAW 117-200.

@SecCardona@usedgov I sure don’t feel respected. DoE dropped my JCSL in 2016 and now after 20+ years in public service still waiting for DoE to follow the law to separate JCSLs before my PSLF can even be processed.
@SecCardona@usedgov 23 year educators who can’t access the PSLF…..the law has given us an opportunity to separate our joint consolidation loans. The law has been in place for nearly two months….please help us out!
@SecCardona@usedgov DYK I'm a public school teacher 23yrs and I cannot qualify for ANY loan forgiveness until you follow the law and separate my FFEL Joint Spousal Consolidated Loans? U r preventing me from qualifying, not GOP, not SCOTUS, not congress, YOU! So help us & make this a priority.
@SecCardona Now that the Joint Consolidation Loan Separation Act has become LAW It is time to give those with FFEL loans the same payment pause that those with federal loans have been given since March 2020.
If you work in public service, you can still take advantage of Public Service Loan Forgiveness & get additional credit through recent adjustments to the program.
Teachers, firefighters, nurses – we are fighting to get you the relief you’ve earned: https://t.co/kGW3kxyziz
@SecCardona HELLO! Have you forget about the 776 teachers, nurses and firefighters with FFEL Spousal Consolidation Loans? @POTUS signed the Joint Consolidated Loan Separation Act on Oct 11. It's law of the land. Implement it, or avoid the administrative nightmare and just cancel them.
@CQuintanaDC Would love to see information on Joint Spousal Consolidation Loan Act (S1098). Signed law 6 wks ago & borrowers continue to make pymnts for both parties, no communication from DoE except reconciliation form for those PSLF, misinformation from lenders. @SC_DoUsPart@usedgov
@usedgov Separate Joint Spousal Consolidated Loans now! Congress passed s1098 which requires you to do this. Please do what you're required by law to do. Help us!
@SecCardona@usedgov That's great news. Now release a plan for separating and discharging predatory FFELP joint spousal consolidation loans. A number of us have dedicated our lives to public service, made our payments, and didn't get a pause during COVID. @SC_DoUsPart
@BlahzeeOh2@SC_DoUsPart @DonateGiveHelp @CTyank860z@whereismytrx@SecCardona@usedgov Thank you. That distinction is easy to miss in the current noise about loan forgiveness, so I’ll repeat it: we are asking the government to enact law 117-200, to separate our loan, not pay it. SEPARATE it. So we are no longer paying our Ex spouse’s bill.
@SecCardona Those with Joint Spousal Consolidated loans have been under tremendous fianancial insecurity 4 Decades & it’s continuing w/o any action on your part to separate them as law demands. THAT is CALLOUS. Finding $ for serious health, w/no payment pause, is agonizing! @SC_DoUsPart
@ephoist@SecCardona@SC_DoUsPart Amen. Giving this pause while ignoring older JCL /FFEL borrowers - many like me in a "single-income but paying double" household - unconscionable. You couldn't implement a pause for an issue that is NOT up for debate!?
LAW 117-200.
I'm shattered. @MarkWarner@mkant
@FSACOO@usedgov What about those of us stuck in spousal consolidation loans? We’ve had no pause at all even though we now have a law directing the DOE to separate into direct loans! This is purely discrimination at this point! @SC_DoUsPart
